Sony Ericsson sees net profits fall 97%, looks to cut 2,000 jobs {Engadget}
Jul 18th 2008 3:04PM Sales numbers were bad on their mid to high end phones because no one was carrying them. I was all set to pickup a K850 from AT&T in March/April only to see it cut at the very last minute and replaced with that ungodly Z750a. I would happily buy a C902 if a major carrier would come out with a U.S. version. Sorry SE, but I'm not going to pay 500 bucks on ebay for a crippled 3G phone.
I don't know who is responsible for a lack or SE phones supported by U.S. carriers, but thats why I have an iPhone in my pocket instead of an SE. Call it the iPhone effect if you want, me I call it tired of waiting for a quadband SE phone thats worth a damn.
AMD says it'll detail its Atom-challenging plans in November {Engadget}
Jul 18th 2008 2:47PM Why is AMD trying to counter Intel's move into a market that their own CEO admitted the other day wasn't as profitable as the mainstream desktop and mobile market? Maybe they should focus on turning a profit there first before they start worrying about expanding into smaller niche markets.
But hey, they've already posted losses for the last seven quarters straight, why not go for broke and make it an even eight?
iPhone 3G and firmware 2.0: one week later {Engadget}
Jul 18th 2008 2:28AM Anyone else catch the story from one of the App dev's, basically talking smack about Apple's deep need for secrecy preventing them from doing simple stuff like actually beta testing their product before it's release date. Apparently users alike are pissed at most app's buggy and half baked performance, and at least one dev has stood up and said "hey, don't blame us. Apple makes it next to impossible to do any sort of quality control on new launches like this."
As if like clockwork, a few minutes after reading the story I noticed there was an update out for two of my apps, one being Facebook, which now run much better and have features that should have been in the initial release. I think I'm starting to see how frustrating it must be for third parties to work with Apple on new products like this.
Sony Ericsson W595 spied? {Engadget Mobile}
Jul 7th 2008 3:03AM Holy Hell they fixed the keypad! Aside from the god awful camera, that was my only gripe with the 580: 9 of the 12 keys split right down the middle after a little more then a month of moderate texting and regular phone use.
And Anthony, Nokia's N82 is a direct ripoff of the SE W810. Put the two side by side, there's no doubt about it. And if you want to talk about ugly, maybe you should check out some of Nokia's clamshells while you're at it.

Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2 headed to Blu-ray on September 9th {Engadget HD}
Jun 18th 2008 4:14AM And if I owned a BluRay player instead of an HDDVD model, this post might mean something to me.
I'm done early adopting... I'll pick one up when it's selling for 99 bucks at walmart, and both of these films come in a 14.99 two pack.
