You are entirely correct... But you wouldn't be able to connect to xbl ever again (one of the main reasons to own an xbox)

I suppose a modded xbox with the appropriate stealthing patches would be fine... But it really is a pain... To be honest I was weighing the pros and cons of getting a shitty but cheap memory card.

My question is how legal this move is? Were they breaking regulations by making the cards or is msoft being anticompetitive with these acts? This sucks for the company that had probably kept makin these until recently, and for the consumer that may still buy it.
