I agree with falcom. I'd also like to see them trying harder to get into living rooms via existing devices: iPod plugged into TV, Xbox360/Ps3/Wii streaming?

Oh, and bring it to Australia. We dont have anything like it yet.
Sad fact is though, the PS3 will be a success. I can hardly sleep looking forward to the Wii. But truth is that the PS3 will still probably have the most games tailored specifically for my demographic.
Its amazing how sony continues to get lamer with each announcment. I'd like to see a media boycott on them for lack of innovation. It is almost as bad as their 'ipod killers'. I just hope the general public doesn't get swindled into thinking this controller provide anything close to the Wii controller.
I'd love to see it as an ACTUAL soccer ball. So it would pump out the tunes while you kick it around. Maybe you could even enhance it to respond to the frequency and power of the kicks.
Although I agree, it is strange that one of the most common reasons people are talking about is cost, especially when compared to watching the DVD at home. A basic home theatre system costs about $AUD3000 + $30/DVD. If you went to the movies 12 times per year, over 5 years @ $30/trip thats only $1800. Realistically, if you can afford a home theatre (and lots of people these days can afford special rooms for these) you can probably afford to movie money. But the product has to be good enough. At home you dont have people talking, you dont have to pay a fortune on snacks, you dont have queues, you dont have to stick to schedules and you wont get stuck in horrible seating if you are late (like right at the front). If cinema's just concentrate back on providing a quality experience to people (like gold class in Austrlia where they have awesome screens, recliner chairs, waiters and ushers to keep people quiet) I think we'll all come back. We all still like movies. Think of it like cooking and eating at home, or going to a restraunt.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
