A converter box runs somewhere between $40.01 and about $65 depending on what you want and where you look.

I know the common price seems to be about $50, so that the company selling them gets $10 off the sale. TigerDirect had them the other day for $40.01 ($0.01 after coupon) plus the standard tax/shipping.

It's not that expensive. If you can't afford the $10 it costs after your coupon, then you don't need to be worrying about TV.
It's noon-1PM (give or take) here with the local channels (Tampa Bay area). One channel's going digital at noon, with a second following up with a "digital newscast" or whatever of their viewer program at 12:30, and then full digital at 1.

For what it's worth, I just want the damn DTV ads to end. Considering my tax dollars paid for the commercials, they were extremely annoying.
From what I've seen, the Neo's being rejected by just about every PC maker. It's because, while they can offer the laptop with way better specs than a netbook, with nearly the same size. The only problem is that the Neo is essentially identical to the Atom, which is much more popular- and when combined with XP runs amazingly.

HP's dv2 runs Vista. I don't have any issues with Vista and have seen worse specs run Home Premium pretty well before, so I don't have a problem with that. It's mostly the fact that the laptop runs anywhere from $750 to $900 depending on where you look. You can get the dv3 for a good bit less...

So yeah, it's pretty newsworthy when anything runs the Neo.
The Volt won't save GM.

Reason being is that a survey was done by GM themselves to see what the "average car buyer" would be willing to spend on something like the Volt. The average response was somewhere around $25,000 to $30,000 which is pretty fair if you think about it. The company though AFTER that still put out initial prices for the car about $12,000 more than that.

If people are willing to pay about $27,500 for a car (average), why put the car at $40,000?

No wonder they failed. If you can get a Toyota Camry for $21,000 that's built better than a $26,000 Impala SS, why would you waste the extra $5k?
My first thought when I saw the picture was "holy shit, Channel 8's on Engadget?" and then I realized it was one of their shitty reporters that was in it....

Talk about depressing. I live about 40 minutes north of Tampa, but glad to see the region get on Engadget (I guess).
It's not really that hard to follow them...

The numbering scheme is based off screen size, (700 series= 7" screen, 1000 series= 10" screen)

H= Hard Drive
A= Atom Processor

As for the second H and the H and D and all that, I have temporarily forgotten what they stood for, but it's not really that important.

Easy to follow naming scheme if you have about half a brain.
I seriously could use one of these things. I almost bought one a few weeks ago until I decided against it for some reason.

Please Engadget?
Nah, I like Most Pretentious Assholes in America better.

But yes, I get your point. It's about the dumbest thing they could do. But hell, with the economy in the shitter, it's not like some major law firm is going to take them up on this. Lawyers have better things to do.
I've had DirecTV since about 2001, and I've always had GSN (which is what it's actually called, it's no longer Game Show Network).

I don't use DirecTV HD (call me crazy for not buying an HDTV) but my TV picture quality seems to be fine. My only complaint is that I've been too lazy lately to call them and order new receivers, I've actually had two of my current 3 since I got the service originally. It stormed a bit today and my signal never dropped, something I can't complain about.

No, power won't go out of style, but the point of these netbooks isn't power.

And you fucking spammers need to get a life. Go advertise your shitty website somewhere that people might care. Oh wow, you bought a domain. Congratufuckinglations.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"
