I do like the point made above about showing where the V's came from in terms of their role in the society they came from. What if they were all political opposition on their own world and in truth were the good guys who are simply trying to avoid all the peril the found on their home world. That would start to put a paranoid doubt into which side is actually the good guys and which are the bad guys within the V traitors and the humans as well. Letting fans take sides rather than having it be us versus them could add all sorts of great plot twists.
Speaking of twists, one of the current episode was really obvious, and one less so. They need to watch out for gratuitous plot twists. Sometimes just building up real suspense as well as perhaps killing off some beloved characters so that we all feel any and every character could go down in any given episode would be excellent. The Wire did this better than anyone else in TV history. The best loved characters often went down hard and for the count. Put some actual grit into it and kill some folks off so when those tense scenarios build up, you realize this might really be it for your favorite.
It's not cable TV quality, but for networks, it's well above average.
