This thing is based on a number of selling points.

Weight 1.1kg (2.4lbs)
4.5 hours operation time going flat out - i.e. normal use will see probably up to 10 hours on a charge.
Magnesium frame for durability while staying light
LED screen

This is not a bamboo laptop, and it's not supposed to break the speed limit. It has a clear focus in the ultraportable (quality) segment.

Having said that I personally agree the price is too high. Not by much, though.
Yay for a replacement for my cruddy 25" CRT
Beautiful stuff... that's a sweet prize :)
The frogs in my head demand a Coby.
Sweet Blackjack - I never hit it...
GPS ftw
Grogg!
A slingbox - neat! :)
Nice Nokia. Want a candy? Lots of candy in my van right here...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
