This story drives me nuts. There's always talk about these two getting together. Let me know if it ever happens...
So did these screwballs make ANY money at all with this project? With all that they invested, I doubt it. I don't see why they aren't sticking it out longer.
I don't care whether you guys think this is old or new--my car had had a similar drive for years. All I know is that if they can make this thing with some super-light metals, it would be a sweet substitute for the old (ball and) chain.
Really...universal/combo drives are the way to go. I can't see spending money on one of these two formats when half of the movies will be in the other format. No thanks. Give me a combo!
@Gail,

If he's into Nascar, it seems that you really only have one choice.
Great tips, Christi. Do you have any links where we can educate ourselves?
How is this thing even remotely considered sexy?
Hey, let's be redundantly redundant, shall we? 8x oversampling AND a 352.8KHz sampling rate? NO way! Check this out: 8 x 44.1 = 352.8. Can we get a copy editor please?
You all need some geography lessons. Neither China nor Russia are in Europe. This would be good for driving from SFO to Paris via Iceland and the Atlantic, however. :)
At around 5Mbps, you certainly don't want to be streaming .ts files over these things.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
