The Tesla is EXACTLY the same as the Elise, except it has:
a totally different drivetrain
totally different body panels
totally different aluminum tub
totally different rear sub-frame
totally different brakes and ABS system
totally different HVAC
totally different rear suspension
and doesn't have the Lotus's gas tank, emissions equipment or exhaust."

hahaha, maybe you should look up the definition of "exactly the same."
omg!!! jar jar is attacking that kid!!! and it's all the fault of violent video games!!
omfg winamp for a freaking guitar!!! that is wicked. every group will want one. especially cool for musicians in smaller bands in smaller settings. time to make some money. i am interested in how the pick up was incorporated, but over all, one of the best mods i have ever seen. i can't wait to see one at the local bar. this guy should charge to build them. bigtime money.
this is some secret squirrel shit if i ever heard of it. excuse my language, but there is no other way to put it.
actually the skycar was an incredible machine, and safer than a plane, but it required a pilots license to operate. it also kicked the faa in the ass and made them begin the skyway program which is now being implemented for some small aircraft pending the bugs being worked out. the tether is there more for insurance reasons than anything. once second generation prototypes are completed, freeflight tests will begin. moller.com used to have the hover tests for the skycar up, which were very impressive. i'm sure they can be found someplace. homeland defense and the army were also supposed to have several of the skycars on order for testing as medivac units.

i do agree, however that this particular craft is more of a joke.
yeah, because humans are so much more reliable.....we are almost infallible, right???

if humans are controlling these things indefinitely, i see an enders game type of "social warfare" model arising in the next 50 years. who knows, maybe the cia watches you play splinter cell to pick future recruits. i don't pretend to have all of the answers to the new ethical issues, but putting all of your faith in humans or robots seems like a bad idea. there has to be a mid point.
"soon, being human will be a liability." -gits
price cuts, wonderful (sarcasm)....i didn't buy a ps3 because i heard the online play was crap. online games account for 90% of the games i play. if ps3 had a live type of service, i would have bought one long ago, despite the price.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
