This would be great for my combination flashlight/farting/tip calculator app.
Alas, the Windows Mobile community still suffers from the selective firmware upgrade syndrome, which always pissed me off to no end. Same goes for the Android devices, and the RIM devices have always been a mess anyway.

I hate to bring up the iPhone in this regard, but even the very first-generation iPhone takes 3.1.2. Sure, it might not have native MMS or Video Capture, but at least you have the peace of mind that you're not completely abandoned.
Someone better have this running on their 3GS with an extended battery pack at the next Apple event in the Moscone Center. If they announce an Apple iPhone 4, Mobile iChat, or an iSlate, I want to hear it no more than 7 seconds behind someone sitting in the audience.
I need one of these kinds to stick in my car. Couple with a nice 7-9" LCD and we're all good to go.
Considering that many apps now duplicate the functionality of SMS/MMS in the form of instant messaging, I would be surprised if this app DIDN'T get approved.

That being said, the app may be nice, but will definitely get pricey because of its real cost of the speech-to-text service. I'll stick with WhatsApp, since I can now send audio, pictures, or video. I'll just record myself and the other side will simply hear it. Still safer than SMS, especially when driving.
It's high time for Apple to sell a World Edition iPhone that will support CDMA/EvDO and all frequencies of GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA/UMTS, while selling it without any agreement or collaboration with any wireless carrier. That'll be a nice sucker punch to the ego of all carriers. Just pick up a line and go month-to-month. Don't like the carrier? Switch on the fly.
Great. I paid three dollars more for SlingPlayer Mobile and I can't even get it to play over 3G on my iPhone.
How do we know if the operation is underway? I don't think I'll be able to tell the difference.
If they introduce this, they better have $0 if NO DATA is used. I hope they don't start out with a $10 minimum, even if you don't use anything, then go to $30 or more, depending on excessive usage.
@Eternity: that Media Player icon doesn't look any better either.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
