I totally need a new monitor. I only have one. I have always wanted a dual-monitor setup. And a 3D monitor just makes it awesome :D.
You are almost certainly right. However, lets not rule out that this takes energy from either the earth's magnetic field or ambient temperature or gravity etc... There are many ways this could work and still not break the laws of thermodynamics.
It is good to see someone looking at the competing operating systems with an open mind. This is a rare and welcome occurrence. I have a Linux machine (Ubuntu 7.04), a Windows Vista Ultimate x64 machine (Primary computer) and a Windows XP machine.

I know what you mean when you say "What kind of geek is satisfied with only one piece of equipment?". I personally tend to buy pretty much every gadget I can get my hands on (a bad, expensive habit) but I have just not had a need for a mac. I used them extensively at high school, and on many occasions at uni, but they never grew on me. Yes, there are indeed some amazing programs on the mac. They are well suited to designing and media creation/editing. However, when it comes to gaming any one of the plethora of other uses of a computer I have found macs lacking. Don't get me wrong, I think they are fantastic for your average Joe that knows nothing about computers as they are so easy to get the hang of, but for power users they fall short. I believe though, that it is certainly worth using as many operating systems as you can get your hands on, and if it is in your line of work to use many types of computers then you cannot afford to take precedence.

Basically, my viewpoint is this: if you like an OS, so be it, if you dislike an OS, so be it, however, make sure you have used and used well that which you dislike. People that dislike Vista because "itz made by M$!!1!1!" annoy the hell out of me. Each to their own.
I voted you up...
I know what you mean, you do make a very good point. However, the quality, capabilities and power of the tool make a great difference to ease of use, and what you can do with it.

Macs are easier to use than PCs. I don't deny this. However, I am a gamer and develop software. You are massively more restricted with both gaming and software development on macs. Vote me down, blast me, do whatever. It is a truth.

Another thing, programs written for macs give you considerably less income than programs written for the PC, simply because of the small user base. I am sorry my previous comments were a little harsh, I had just had a frustrating time with a mac at university, so was not in the best mood. I will try to be a little more professional.
You must be joking...
Are you mad? I have Vista Ultimate x64 and it is great, i have had no driver issues, and every program and game I have has worked on it (some have needed patching or upgrading to latest version but no big hassle there). It is obviously the future and i think that Microsoft would have to be mad to not cut off their older OS's production by then. What on earth do you have against Vista Engadget?
That is without a doubt the best cake i have ever seen. Damn the traditions lol. That's just awesome.
AMD is dropping their prices to compete with the new Intel CPUs so i don't think the Conroe will be ahead for long. AMD has always stayed fiercely competitive and I don't believe that will change. The one great thing that would come out of dell selling AMD CPUs is an even more competitive environment, therefore more powerful, cheaper CPUs, on both sides.
I for one, hope that dell sees some sense and realises that perhaps it is not worth whatever intel is paying them to boycott AMD. Maybe they will see the light and sell us cheap, GOOD computers with QUALITY CPU's. (yes, i am aware that the Intel Core Duo 2 is more powerful than AMD's CPU's, but it is also horrifically more expensive, plus it is the only decent CPU they have released in eons). Prepare for the flames!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
