frankly I'm underwhelmed so far. Some nice gee whiz features, but I'm finding the new folder view options to be more visually appealing while no more functional. Many of the items don't preview in cover flow. I had many folders with icons that were important for quick navigation and they have been replaced by a folder with a piece of paper on top that says "Jpeg". Not to mention that my machine is crashing each time I resume from a sleep. I'm sure there's more to the system that I haven't tapped so far, but the additional fact that many of my programs won't run correctly yet is also raising my doubts about the timing of my upgrade.
I have replaced my G2 IPOD twice now, and because of the Best Buy Performance plan I have only had to pay for the new plan on each successive IPOD. I now have a smudgerific Black 80GB G5.5 IPOD that I paid 65$ for. If I hadn't had the plan I would have had to buy two new IPODs at a cost of $500 for the second one and $350 for the newest one. So I have paid a total of approx $130 dollars to have continuous IPODs at my disposal as opposed to $850, and this has all occurred since I bought my first IPOD 3 years ago.
TechTV was a good idea and actually discussed tech related issues in an informative and entertaining fashion. G4 has really dumbed down most of their coverage and they seem to try to cater to every whim or taste in their demographic (young males without girlfriends or jobs). And they definitely seem focused on hiring eye candy as opposed to knowledgable hosts. Hence, you get Layla Kayleigh (as nice as she is to look at, I admit) instead of Leo Laporte.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
