Cowon is Korean. They held the mantle of world's smallest MP3 player for a while a few years back (for those keeping track)....

I don't think I could watch movies on a screen this small (2.5"), but it is a pretty slick looking machine.

- The 30" display's brightness is limited by its high resolution. The high number of pixels per inch mean that each is very small, allowing little light to pass through (think a camera aperature). To increase brightness you would need to add more LEDs, which would increase power consumption, increase heat generation and raise bill of materials - meaning higher cost to the consumer.

- The 15.4" has lower brightness and color spec because it is a portable application. Battery life and weight are two of the most important factors in this application, and increasing brightness would mean adding more LEDs, shortening battery life and increasing weight. It would also increase bill of materials for more bulbs - LEDs are still pricey compared to CCFLs.

- The 40" has a reasonable resolution to allow for its mass production and speedy introduction. A ~2 megapixel panel (1920 x 1080) would require more LEDs and would suffer the higher manufacturing defect rate associated with high resolution panels (more pixels per inch mean more likelihood of defective pixels - remember that a ~2 megapixel display has more than 6 million subpixels!). Both of these factors would increase bill of materials and cost to the consumer - slowing adoption and making rollout less attractive to manufacturers.
I am not aware of an LCD manufacturer that produces a 4:3 32" - must be a typo...
No Cable Card

From the integrator's point of view it seems to already be a dead technology.

I would like #14, the Pzizz.
I recently moved to the US after living and workin gin Asia for almost 10 years. This move has been VERY stressful as it involved the end of an 8 year relationship, moving all the way around the world, starting a new job in a new city, finding and apartment, buying a new car, etc. To add to the stress the new car got rearended 1 month after I got it and my new dentist informed me today that I am grinding my teeth at night, probably due to internalizing stress.

I NEED to relax or this new start to life is going to start taking years off my life - maybe the Pzizz is exactly what I need to erase the stress of the day, month and year! Thanks...
It will be interesting to see these driving video content - at trade shows they have been scrolling static pictures so that they do not have to deal with how to drive video (60 fields) at double the rate.

Of note, the Japanese market would definitely not be using 120Hz (double the current 60Hz), as they are on PAL - it would be 100Hz (double the current 50Hz).
Samsung actually showed a 32" field sequential color LCD at FPD International in Yokohama in Oct 2006. This is cool technology, but nowhere near commercialization.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
