Personally, I just drag links to the Firefox icon in the dock when I don't want to open them in Safari, but I guess if I needed to do this all the time this could be handy.
What I don't understand is why anyone would prefer to go stand in line for god knows how long as opposed to having one delivered. I preordered from the apple store online and got mine delivered at 10AM on release day with free shipping.
Got mine from UPS a few minutes ago. It switched over the number from my previous iPhone with no problems and it's almost done restoring the data. I'm so glad I didn't have to go wait in line. I did that for the original launch and I don't want to do it again. (Doesn't help that all we have is an AT&T store in the area, and you have to wait outside.)
My shipping notice from Apple said "delivery by the 22nd" but I sure hope they don't wait until then, considering that they've got plenty of time to get it to me on the release date. I've gotta say, though, that even if it arrives on Monday it beats standing in line for hours like I did when it first came out. I like being able to preorder these online without having to go to an AT&T store (no Apple stores near me).

My status is currently listed as "Exception" and there is no estimated arrival date anymore.
Mine was scheduled for delivery today (and still lists that as the delivery date). But I also have the line about the receiver requesting a delay, so I imagine that it will arrive on the 19th. Even if it did arrive early, I wouldn't be too surprised if it wouldn't be possible to activate it until the official release date.
My wife just got a new (last rev) MacBook and I just got a new (also last rev) MacBook Pro. I didn't know anything about this controversy, but I noticed a dithering effect on the MacBook's screen that I don't see on my MacBook Pro. I actually checked to make sure it wasn't running in "thousands" of colors, just to be sure. I don't think I'm imagining the difference in the two screens.
Funny, I've never had that happen (and I use Office daily in my job).
JSW -- I'm not sure what you mean by keyboard lockups, but Office 2004 has an issue where you hit a key and then nothing will happen for quite a while unless you hit another key or move the mouse. I believe this actually occurs on both PowerPC and Intel computers, so I don't think it's related to Rosetta. I remember complaining about it when Office first came out.

And I question the claim that Excel is slower on a MBA than a 5-year-old PowerBook (which one are we talking about here, Peter?) For a long time, I used a 12" PowerBook G4 as my mobile and a 1.83Ghz Intel iMac as my main computer, and Office was clearly faster on the iMac. It's even faster on my new MacBook Pro (although it is admittedly no speed demon on any machine).
There's more to BR than movies. I know I would like to be able to burn 30+GB of data at a time. Besides, not everyone in the world can use iTunes for movie downloads, and not everyone in the US (myself included) wants to do so. I would hope they would recognize that.
The iPhone in the picture has waiting SMS messages, according to the icon. I didn't think iPhones on display were activated to be able to send or receive messages or calls.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
