A slight add on to what Duda said:

Although songs bought from the iTunes store before 2009, which were NOT from the iTunes+ store, have DRM, for $.30/song (I think), you can upgrade the album to 256k and DRM free. Therefore if you have an album that you really love, it may be worthwhile to upgrade it for better sound quality and the ability to use on any PMP....

I wonder why engadget would print such a ridiculous rumor. Although the Mac Tablet (or whatever it will be called) may contribute to companies halting production, I would think the main reason (if not the complete reason) would be Windows 7. On top of that, Windows 7 multi-touch is probably a big dea for tablet makes.... I could be wrong though. I am not saying Apple has no influence on the computer market (we all know they do), however it is a pretty far stretch.
@quix

They are two different businesses. I know I am arguing logic with someone who is obviously trolling, however there is a point where you go from obnoxious to just plain absurd. You, out of all people, argue that Apple makes their profit through hardware, not software. You then make comments like the one above to show that you care nothing for logic, proving your sole existance is to harass other people. I know I just defined what a troll is, but I wanted to make sure that your recognized what your are.
@uwaga

I do not know if you were being sarcastic, but just incase:

Tablets have been around for almost 10 years (or at least mainstream).

ps This does not mean that I think Apple is doing a "me-too" or have any opinion about this phantom device.
@em-peg

I would hope that OS XI would move on from big cats to bears.

Grizzly Bear, Asiatic Black Bear, Polar Bear, Brown Bear, Himalayan Blue Bear..... the lists goes on!

I am assuming that you are responding to me since you used the initials of my avatar, however your response has nothing to do with what I wrote.

In case you were wondering, I am not a windows user but a Linux user, hence the Linux being free joke. I also could not care less about what you spend your money on. I am however interested in technology, including pricing. Therefore I find it quite interesting (and extraordinary) that Apple would release their new operating system (more than a service pack in my eyes) for such a low price.

I hope I did not hurt your precious feelings with my previous comment.
@unix system

Do you really think 10.5 was not a major improvement over 10.4? I installed it on my girl friends MBP, which originally came with 10.4, and it ran much faster with 10.5. Although 10.5.7 was not particularly stable, I felt that 10.5 overall was much better (given my limited experience with it)
Something you should consider is putting your personal files on a separate partition, so you can reinstall the OS while still not affecting your files. This works for all of the operating systems (OS X, Windows, Linux Distros ...). It is good (especially for windows and the registry) to re-load your OS every couple of years, and partitioning makes it easier since you do not lose files.

This is where I add an obnoxious comment about Ubuntu (and most Linux distributions) being free....

In all honesty, I think it is pretty cool that Apple is selling Snow Leopard so cheap. It is more than just a service pack, since the OS has been further optimized (referring to size and speed)

Stop being a troll

@ Wat Up

Stop being a troll and stop writing like a 12 year old (unless you are one, then all the power to you)
It would be pretty awesome
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
