@NetNewsercom First I have to say NBC is not going anywhere, it was the original network, that they are truly too big to fail, too many affiliates depend on them. (And Fun Fact there used to be 3 networks in the early days of TV, NBC Red NBC Blue and CBS, NBC was forced to sell NBC Blue due to anti trust issues, NBC Blue then changed its name to ABC), while none of this has anything to do with the current structure of NBC or ABC, the fact is NBC wont die, hell they were a first place network only 15 years ago. ABC was failing until disney bought them in 1996, and it still took them 8 years to get to where they are now. This is just another phase of the TV industry, and I hope even though this is comcast, that the FCC and all the communication laws in place will keep comcast from abusing their ownership of the network, and hopefully under new ownership they can get rid of Jeff Zucker and put someone younger in charge, someone who knows where this industry is heading in the next 10 years.
@Drybones5

Yeah I am in the Santa Barbara area of California, and have never had an issue almost always have full bars, and super fast speeds, Verizon is good here too, but I always have a bar advantage over the Veizon phones. Over halloween the Verizon network crashed in the area I was in (Too many people came into the college town), while AT&T was working like a charm. I think there is some merit to the complaints with AT&T as I have had issues on road trips in the middle of nowhere. But I really think a majority of it is overblown.
@PGPProtector Plus don't you want to support the shows you watch, isn't it a good thing if ABC doesn't cancel whatever show because of the viewer data they get from this?
Now if only Tivo supported 2GB drives.
@mmaestro The question is, which night has your DVR recording the best shows.
That is the exact reason I doubt they are pulling a "Nintendo", because the Kindle has been around for ages, B&N need to get as many out as possible to try to get a big market-share, with the Wii, it was the only console in its class at the time (Cheap, and motion control), there are tons of eBook Readers available now, any sale they don't make because of limited supply is going to straight to amazon. The only thing I don't buy is the idea that its more successful than expected, thats just marketing speak, they must of known this thing was going to sell out, they probably are just producing them as fast as they possibly can, I believe its production limitations.
This is a hot holiday item, and they are aware of that, their first priority is to make sure all the nook's that were pre-ordered online get out by christmas, my guess is all the extras will be going to their retail stores, they are just treating everything like two separate releases. The in store release is more important to get out early because if people see it in stores (And I am sure they will have demo units) they may impulse buy or request one for the holidays, but the people who pre ordered it online are the ones who will wait for it.

Unfortunately for the jewish gadget fans the 18th is the last day of Hanukkah this year, so hopefully they will ship them sooner, or some people will just have to wait to get their present.
Aww, no hardware acceleration for OSX yet? The OSX version of Flash is the one that needs it the most. (Though this version already does seem a lot snappier).
Yeah I did, and as a fan of the original, I thought the remake was throughly confusing, just like the original. I am excited to see the whole mini-series before passing judgment. But I have to say, I was genuinely impressed, with how much of the "Feeling" it was able to replicate from the original, while being completely different in so many ways. I thought my knowledge of the original was going to make this one easier to understand, but its pretty obvious that is not the case. Its worth the watch, the messages and commentaries are all modernized and quite compelling.
Why do they even sell 7.1 non HDMI audio decoding Amps? I remember looking all this up when I was shopping for an amp a few months ago, and I just didn't understand the point. Optical cant push more than 1.5mbps thus i can't push 7.1 or TrueHD, so whats the point of making the device 7.1 anyway?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
