Liverpool wants to build 'games academy' {Joystiq}
Jul 10th 2009 11:29AM It certainly helps but it isn't imperitive.
What is more important is a grasp of anatomy, muscles, bone structures, material and fabric, understanding edge loops, range of movements, fixtures, fittings...
I know. I'm a games artist and I graduated with First Class Honours in Computer Games Design from university. I can draw, sure, but being able to hasn't helped drastically in grasping 3D modelling and game art.
Liverpool wants to build 'games academy' {Joystiq}
Jul 10th 2009 8:12AM As Mr Ford once said, "If you say you can't draw, you're probably right."
Maths isn't necessary for games design, particulaly if you're the design and art side of things. Being able to draw or paint doesn't have that much influence on art in terms of games art as games art is all about attention to detail, understaning the anatomy and mechanics of things.
Don't give up on the idea because you struggle at art and maths - practice! There are many thousands of tutorials, articles and programs on the web to help you get started in games design.

How?! Its an abbreviation, like "Brits", "Aussies" and "Scots". "Jap" isn't offensive at all, its not used in a derogatory fashion.
Anyway, back on-topic:- Thats awesome, crazy construction - where they're finished with it, I'll hapilly keep in my garden!

Jul 6th 2009 7:03AM When I used to run McAfee (years ago, version 7-ish), that fell victim to a McAfee-targetted virus that disabled it and prevented any mcafee searches or webpages from loading. It seems its not just RealPlayer and Quicktime that have vulnerabilities...
Avast! is my program of choice now. Never had any issues with it, never been infected and I reccomend it.
Like the article said, no program offers complete protection, they're mearly starting points to fight off the bulk of attacks. You need an array of programs to create a nice barrier but you're never completely safe, whether you pay for it or not.
I see what you did there!

Jun 3rd 2009 2:38AM I've been after a handheld, just never got the funds for it. Don't want a DS (don't hate me, just a preference thing), and I didnt like the UMD idea either. With no UMD I might invest with this, its just so darned expensive.
I loved the Gran Turismo series, and despite Forza 2 being a great substitute, I would like to continue playing it.
We'll see. If they bring the price down sub-€200/£200 then I'll get me one [for Christmas].
