@killshot230 Right, I know what BBM is and have used it. I've had BBerries for the past 2 years. Unfortunately, its not universal and while its a neat program and service, the same can be achieved platform independently with AIM/MSN/YM/GTalk etc. All I'm saying is that while it may have been 'necessary' 8 years ago, it certainly isn't necessary now what with always on data connections and what not being able to utilize existing instant messaging services.
Does this game support the use of the clutch and the shifter? I'd buy the controller if it did...
I've had windows mobile, i've had BBerry, I've had Palm and I know have a 3GS. I don't understand why thre needs to be a 3rd party hop for BES email. ActiveSync is built into exchange, is free with exchange, and works fantastic on WinMo, Palm, Android and iPhone... Why add another link in the chain with the ability to go down by having to use BES/RIM? Am I missing something other than BBerry Messenger, which can be easily replaced with something else if need be... like SMS perhaps?
@surgex No. People mostly don't. Because 9/10 people don't want to SSH into their phone. Those that want to... can. If you had everyone and their mom installing shit willy nilly, and then the phone starts running like crap due to something the USER did... who do you think pays for the support when those uninformed users need help? Carriers do. And if the carriers end up spending a disproportionate amount of time on 1 particular phone or platform, guess which ones they don't purchase anymore?

EG: If they let people do whatever they want with the Droid, and start getting all kinds of calls for support, and support costs for the Droid go through the roof, whats the incentive to continue supporting it past this generation?
@AA Alex Actually, check out MyWi. Turns the iPhone into a WiFi hotspot and shares the connection. Yeah, you need to jailbreak, but if you need to hack the firmware on the Droid to do it also, then we're on even ground here, no? Also, I've been doing it for about 2 months now.
@Gilad The iPhone most certainly can multi-task. Just not in stock form. I've got 5 apps running right now, and can flip between them with ease.

You don't need new SYNC hardware. This will be available "with a simple software upgrade of SYNC next year (article above)." You're providing the WiFi card that plugs into the SYNC USB port. *That's* the hardware. The SYNC update will provide drivers and whatever software is needed to use the hardware.

No. The car needs to have WiFi. The 3G modem gets plugged in to the USB port. How are you going to plug in both without a USB hub (which, I'm not sure the SYNC system supports. I can try in my Focus later). Like I said above, however, you may be able to tether your phone via BT and share the internet over a 'Ford Approved' USB WiFi. However, I have a program called MiWi for my Jailbroken iPhone 3GS that turns it into a WiFi hotspot.
You might be able to do it with Bluetooth as well. Plug the 3G modem in, and have the laptops connect to Sync via BT. No need for WiFi. Or, since I can tether via my iPhone over BT, share teh Internet that way even.
@icase81

Fail system is fail. Need a delete button. You've revamped the system TWICE now, engadget, but still theres no edit or delete button.
It would be nice to have a Nav app that supplements the LCD-less sync navigation in my 2010 Focus. It works well enough, but there are times when it tells you to turn but its too late to get into the proper lane, etc. If it could use some sort of display, then you could display a map or something.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
