This team will never find success as long as Snyder and Cerrato are running things. Skins fans deserve better than this.
Still playing soft coverage too much. I think the Orakpo experiment at LB needs to end. Couldn't get off the field on 3rd down against the freakin' Rams, which isn't necessarily Blache's fault, but still crappy nonetheless. Overall, they need to blitz way more and stop playing safe. He plays Landry way deep which might stop deep passes, but it also stops him from doing much of anything. Blache and Zorn are both too conservative and scared to take risks.
Today felt like anything but a win. Glad the Skins did pull it out, but man, there's a lot of problems to deal with. I think Campbell has looked pretty good over the past couple games, but Zorn has been exposed as a downright bad playcaller and game manager when it counts. His clock management is so bad he had the special teams coach yelling at him on the sideline to not call a timeout.

As for the actual plays Zorn called, I think Snyder is being generous by calling it suspect. A Portis pass on 3rd and goal? For real? I mean, are you kidding me on that one? 5 trips to the red zone, and I think he ran on 1st down each time. The team now has 3 receivers well over 6', and not one time did Zorn call a fade or jump ball. There are issues with execution, but Zorn and Greg Blache look more responsible for the futility than anyone.
The Skins still looked like they were in preseason. Still trying out new things, not fully committing to any approach, and a lot of confusion. Not to mention the subpar execution. I'm not panicking yet because the Giants are a good team, but the Skins need to get it together, and fast.
Some of the reports that Chase won't make the PS seem premature. If he clears waivers, we'd at least need a 3rd QB to run the scout team. It makes more sense to have that guy on the PS than wasting space as one of the 53.

It also looks like Antwaan Randle El will be the emergency 3rd QB, which is a good idea. 'Emergency QBs' never really see the field, and in the very, very rare chance that we'd need a 3rd, ARE is good enough to hand the ball off or make a couple passes.

Smartest move by the Skins in a long time.
Blache is just mad because his scheme sucks. Sure, let's give Randy Moss and Tom Brady a 15 yard cushion every play. What's the worst that could happen?
I lol'd when I heard LaVar Arrington was someone's-- anyone's-- publicist. The dude can't even speak well for himself, so representing other people is not a good move.

Aside from that, I think the divide between picks is interesting. Brian Orakpo was one of the first early round picks to sign, and he did it way out of order from the rest. He wanted to come to camp, learn and play, and has gotten huge compliments from coaches and other players for having a veteran's mentality.

Then you have guys like Crabtree and Maybin who are missing valuable time and making themselves look bad to squeeze an extra million or two out. It's absolutely frustrating for those of us 9-5ers who would play in the NFL for free for the opportunity alone, so watching this is hard to swallow.
I'd feel bad for Vince Young, but he's so cocky for no real reason that he deserves to suck.
Careful, Matt. This is the kind of thing Mike Florio turns into a big time rumor. Tomorrow's headline on PFT: 'Portis in Zorn's Doghouse; Not even allowed to wear his own name.'
A couple things:

First, regarding Vick entering his prime. Players enter his prime when they're in their late 20s because they've been playing for 7 or 8 years. Vick lost two of those years, so his prime might be 2 or 3 years down the way, assuming he could get there at all. I find it very hard to believe he can pick up where he left off. How many players take a year or two off and can come back at all, much less be a top guy in their position. As a Skins fan, I can say that Mike Williams, the OT who was out of the league for a couple years, does not look very good right now. That's the rule more than the exception.

Second, regarding Vick being a 'new type' of quarterback. People keep thinking that we'll inevitably see QBs like Vick, Vince Young and Tim Tebow become more and more common, but I don't haven't seen anything to support that. In any given time, there's one or two very mobile QBs in the league, and Vick was it while he was playing. The NFL will remain a pocket-QB league for the foreseeable future.

Vick deserves a chance, but I think people are overly optimistic about how well he'll perform.

"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
