MacBook Air doesn't have a user-replaceable battery {Engadget}
Jan 15th 2008 3:26PM AGG, that's the point. We should buy a different laptop. This one doesn't have much purpose. On one hand, it's features are comparable to the Asus Eee, which is perfectly fine. But the Eee is $500, while this starts at $1800.
Pound for pound and feature for feature, the MPA is way more expensive than anything else out there. It comes with less and costs more. And when you're spending $1800 on a computer, who would want something that lacks significant features?
I'm also especially frustrated that the MBP wasn't updated.

Jan 15th 2008 3:03PM It wouldn't be as bad if the MBA wasn't so expensive, but when we're spending $1800+ on a laptop, we want some flexibility after purchase. Flexibility that doesn't cost an additional few hundred dollars for something most laptops come standard.
The only 'features' of the MBA is it's thinness, but it also seems like it's greatest liability. Form follows function, Apple, and you really missed that point.
Apple investors miss one more thing {Engadget}
Jan 15th 2008 2:56PM I guess we're not the only ones disappointed by the MB and MBP not getting any updates or revisions. I think it was widely expected, and since those two products are big sellers and would likely be huge sellers after getting some updating, the market watchers were underwhelmed.

Jan 10th 2008 12:42PM How the hell can you be a fanboy for a processor? I mean, it's a tiny piece of metal. Who cares? Use what's a better product.

Dec 6th 2007 8:52PM It usually takes a good designer to tell a company, "Hey, chill out with all the LEDs, molded plastic and dull, gray boxes. Try something clean and simple."
FCC treats apartment dwellers to cable competition {Engadget}
Oct 31st 2007 2:19PM "many consumers were likely to wind up paying more for services if the FCC's interference in the competitive marketplace stands"
It's not very competitive when you don't allow for competition.
Apple's waiting on Intel's Penryn for revamped Mac Pros? {Engadget}
Oct 18th 2007 3:48PM I'd like to see the laptop 45nm in the Macbook Pro sometime soon. I'm hoping it will be before the end of the year, but all I keep reading is that the MBP revision won't be until January or February.
Best Buy kicks analog TVs to the curb {Engadget}
Oct 17th 2007 2:13PM I just looked around and there are a number of digital 13" tvs for the same $100 of analogs. I don't see this causing any problems.
On the other hand, without tube tvs, people will have to lay down a few hundred dollars more on a flat panel tv, which sucks. A HD flat panel is nice, but I don't see anything wrong with a tube tv for a fraction of the price. Not everyone wants to spend $1000 on a tv.

Oct 10th 2007 1:28PM I'm assuming they're not going to eat the waste, but rather use it for fertilizer. Human solid and liquid waste are actually pretty good fertilizers and 12 people could probably produce more than enough to feed plants.
NYC taxi drivers take GPS fight to court {Engadget}
Sep 19th 2007 10:55PM I don't see a demand for this. While I usually don't take cabs here, when I have I've never seen the cabbies take longer routes to make extra money. This really does seem like an extra expense and pain in the butt for the cabbies. It's more important to the city for them to invest in hybrid cars and flex fuel than some unneeded GPS.
And yeah, NYC has one of the greatest public transportation system in the world, why even bother with cabs? You can get anywhere in the city for 2 bucks. Can't beat that.
