As these things escalate, the other sides will eventually also have such weapons, and you seem to hold the false belief that the current 3rd world technologically challenged enemies will remain our only enemies in the future. Any day, circumstances can alter who wants to fight us, and they may have UAV's to kill our citizens too... oh, we'll just have to report it as collateral damage like we always do.

My feeling on this, just target the financial institutions and burn the money, If we're just going to end up killing other people's machines, then we migh as well save time and energy and just burn the cash.

I agree completely with Quantum, and I could not disagree more with Priaptor. Telling other nations how to live is like telling your neighbor how to live... neither likes it. We all understand that we believe we know the ideal way life should be lived, but the conversation should not always be at the end of a gun. Notwithstanding that we could be very wrong.

I don't know if the GOV always had the intention to make unmanned robot controlled equipment with science fiction reporting on the situation, or if science fiction led science to the situation we're entering, but this is starting to look ominously like the scary stories.

Agreed on the sentiment, but the actual transaction might be construed as even more displeasing than the requirement indicated in the article. No?

Requiring a brand or model is unnecessary, if the real intent was to make the purchase eligible for financial aid. They could have just required an audio recording and playback device on a cellphone.


Some schools require laptops... windows laptops, to run certain software required by the program, but the suggested models are based on performance and capability.

I'm not convinced that the iPhone / Touch are any more capable at audio recording / playback than any other generic device.

That thing is hideous. It will never sell, unless the buyer is blind. That better not be the design, because we can all tell them not to bother.

Instant Gratification?

I hope someone continues to work on alternatives to electricity as a fuel source simply because research may prove that electricity is not the ideal fuel / energy source.

However, right now, we can produce electricity by various means, and hopefully we will make those methods more eficient while working on yet more methods. Solar panels, Wind turbines, Wave / flow based turbines, chemical reactions, burnd fossil fuels, etc.

Presently, we have a significant investment in the electrical infrastructure. If we lose petroleum based fuels, we also make the associated infrastructure mostly useless. WHat can be salvaged will be, while we invest in incorporating whatever fuel infrastructure we need. Going any fuel other than Electric may mean significant investment in infrastructure to support that fuel.

I would suggest that we have a significant knowledgebase related to working with electricity. We don't have nearly as much knowledge working with other fuels such as Hydrogen.


The "man" already has an infrastructure to maintain control of the populace if we shift from petroleum to eletricity... the oil company oligarchy would be replaced by the electric company oligarchy. Going to another fuel source could allow for anarchy until things get settled, so in the interest of civil obedience, electricity is a win.

Just my thoughts on the subject...
