"with maybe half of those being GM vehicles."

Half? Maybe now, but not once major competitors start pushing their own plug-ins. GM better make the most of their lead in the plug-in market while they have it, because once others match the Volt's drive train, GM's quality and the Volt's Delta II chassis will be severely outmatched.
Rear torsion bar suspension - how pathetic!

The worst part is, a bunch a kids will buy this car and think they hang with the big boys because they have the horsepower, not understanding that they lack the handling.
2L 4-cylinder? That's probably why it isn't being sold in the U.S. Americans need a big V8 to b̶o̶o̶s̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶e̶g̶o̶̶s haul their groceries.
"they're much closer to an average incandescent than those awful CFLs"

Why is incandescent a benchmark? Incandescent is nothing like natural sunlight, and many modern CFLs surpass incandescent bulbs in their color rendering index.

Top Gear intentionally builds obtuse and crappy cars for entertainment, not information.
F1 R&D is supposed to trickle down into consumer products. But that seems to work as well as trickle-down Reaganomics.
"Ghost In The Shell 2.0"

Not to be confused with Ghost In The Shell: Innocence, Ghost In The Shell Vol. 2, or Ghost In The Shell 2nd Gig. They've bungled the Ghost In The Shell nomenclature so that only a hard core fan will know what this is!
This would be awesome... if it was from a different company so that we could have a choice of television provider.
I love the photo, but something about a Caterham driving on the left side of the road doesn't seem appropriate for a post about driving in the U.S..
"features either real time or scheduled backups"

So it comes bundled with backup software. You can get backup software that works with any external HDD. And is the encryption hardware-based, or just more bundled software?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"
