While most of these companies will undoubtedly settle out of court, some will hopefully begin research into how they can get around using her patented methods instead of relying on old ways of doing things.

Mar 6th 2008 12:16PM I don't think it's going to take that long.
It didn't take months for the iPhone to be jailbroken, and much less time for decent apps to be written. Though we don't yet know what the process will be to get apps published, I expect many of the developers who already have apps to work feverishly to port them to the official SDK.
Having said that, I don't see myself using vanilla firmware for the iPhone, and will continue to jailbreak my phone as jailbreaks become available.
