Naw, we're still good. The Treaty of Algeron isn't signed until 2311 so we have time.
I'm also not entirely sure what the innovation is here. Maybe the speed? My school has been building machines like this for educational purposes for years: http://littlefe.net/ though I don't know how fast these are.
I don't know about the podcast but the album is named after the novel and quite frankly I'm shocked and dismayed that a geeky site like this wouldn't know that.
A terabyte is 1,000,000,000,000 bytes (tera being the SI prefix for 10^12) so this is probably correct.

The confusion is between tera (10^12) and tebi (2^40). Most techies don't really seem to care and prefer the more historical use of tera even though it's now deprecated but personally I appreciate the attempt at clarity.
Steve:
My impression is that these are just PPC builds of linux in which case they are only using the PPE which is not built for doing much processing but rather managing the SPE's and the base OS. Running a fully featured OS on it really isn't a very good idea.

This whole linux on the PS3 will only be interesting if people manage to take advantage of the SPE's. Though frankly the amount of changes needed makes me skeptical.
yay, I love offtopic comments by huge douchebags
xbox360 can't output a digital signal, which is why they can't release an hdmi cable and why a vga to dvi adapter will NOT work (It only changes the connector, the device still has to be able to output the digital signal). It doesn't really matter that much, most everything is still 780p/1080i for which analog is just as good as digital. Besides, please people, I beg you not to buy into this hdcp bs(HD-DVD/bluray I'm looking at you). It's just sending a signal to hollywood and the tech companies that it's fine to force overbearing DRM down our throats.
It's just a different model. Honestly I'd rather pay a little more up front then get taxed on the games to make up for it. Everybody wants to make a profit it's just the Sony and Microsoft subsidize the hardware and then increase the price of games and accessories to make up for it.
Maybe I'm wrong but I always assumed the reason apple didn't let you expand was because by limiting the possible hardware possibilities to a small number of configurations they can make sure everything "just works". If they let people upgrade one of their big advantages over windows goes out the window.
I'm mainly a pc gamer and I can say that I'm quite happy with the norm of save-anytime. Yeah, it can be abused, but then if you want to make the game trivially easy there are plenty of ways to do it other than saving often. Taking away a feature doesn't "add" to a game, it just gives you less freedom to play the game how you like.

Lekko - Maybe it should be the opposite. I tend to see games as story lines with the combat and stuff as obstacles to get through. I really, really hate having to repeat a bunch of the story line (and it's accompanying hoops) just because the developer thought not letting me save was a good way to make the combat more intense.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
