Cringely: blame Vista's delay on OEMs, Apple to sell OS X for PCs {Engadget}

Apr 10th 2006 2:03AM "Apple will invest its money in projects that they hope will have a good return. Apple users have to pay 129 for upgrades now. And it is upgraded pretty frequently. For Windows upgrades are free, and you only have to pay when a new version comes."

What the # are you talking about? How many new features come in service packs? Please....

Apple is at least a generation ahead of MSFT, if not two in terms of OS features and abilities.

Upgrades are free? When was this, are you talking about Service Packs, where they finally learn to lock their backdoor ports? Or give you a firewall? Oh my... the lies.

Cringely: blame Vista's delay on OEMs, Apple to sell OS X for PCs {Engadget}

Apr 10th 2006 1:57AM by the way, great picture for the story

second, dude is probably right, by the fault of the largest software developer [Microsoft], it is probably due to OEM lack of readiness.

third, you do not go to such a length [however in vain] to discourage the copying of os x to pcs, to turn around and allow it on a 32 bit machine. jobs put a stop to cloning years ago, and you wont see that same style manuever occur under him again, for the same reasons. what temporal cash flow for 32 bit would be worth the hassle until the eventual mainstream move to 64 bit?

Sorry, MacTel owners: Windows Vista won't support EFI {Engadget}

Mar 11th 2006 1:21PM Engadget coverage of this story isnt the only blog that people are complaining of why in the world a mac user would want to run windows, they phrase it as if a user buys a mac for the sole purpose of running windows, so dont think it is engadget only.

CTO unveils next-gen "Intel Core Microarchitecture" {Engadget}

Mar 8th 2006 10:45PM Conroe is impressive, fo' sure. However, AMD has 6 months to go, on top of the time since x2. Lets not act like Intel has won any crown yet, as exemplified in the last decade (**cough**...Anandtech). Please.

Latest iPod video rumors: 4-inch display, Jobs scrambling for content {Engadget}

Mar 3rd 2006 2:16AM "Haven't you guy's learnt not to regurgitate ThinkSecret's stuff yet. If we want to know what they're smoking today, we'll just go there and find out..."

ThinkSecrets reputation is impeccable, that is the one place Engadget needs to be if they want to entertain Mac rumors. Where Engadget gets themselves into trouble is reporting rumor sites that have no credibility.

"I heard it best on last night's Your Mac Life internet broadcast... do you really think Apple will make a "full screen" ipod like this that would be so prone to scratches when they can't even make a Nano that doesn't scratch when you slide it into a cloth pocket? I thought that summed it up best."

First, it is likely and reasonable that Apple would bevel the edges for the new players, among other things. This is sensible in light of the force of their product, legal issues pending, and rumors suggesting this. Second, of all I think that is a common understanding that no screen is going to be scratch proof, and that if this is a big concern of yours, take care of it, and buy a case. Apple is forced to confront this issue for future players, and I think they will.

Apple's Intel Mac minis: Core Duo at 1.67GHz, Core Solo at 1.5GHz {Engadget}

Mar 1st 2006 10:33PM "I can't help but laugh every time Apple announces a new Intel Mac that is now 2/3/4 times faster than it's old PowerPC counterpart.

And I thought all these years Jobs was telling me how much faster PowerPC chips were..."

The thing that I dont get is that if they are so much faster [Intel] then why is a DUAL CORE only 1.7 times faster than the 1.4 g4 PPC chip (see apples spec sheet for the mini). It should be at least 2.0 times faster if they the intel chip was superior per core, however it is not compared to the single core g4 chip.
