Costco in Austin, TX had 6 of them as of yesterday and the manager said they'd been there for a few days. Nice enough deal I suppose; 60gb, extra controller and some random game for $699.

The rush of guilt-stricken parents deperate to buy them for their snot-nosed kids is past. All these things are going to do is gather dust.
Sorry, but there are no technologies that will filter out random noise like human conversations. The best you can do is mask it with a white noise generator or something more exotic like this http://www2.hermanmiller.com/global/canada/english/news_articles/pdf/QuietTechnologyProductEssay.pdf
This makes complete sense. I watch considerably less than I did before having a PVR, even after factoring in commercial skipping. This is primarily due to my willingness to skip a bad show because I know I have something else already recorded and to the fact that I no longer watch TV on impulse. I control the TV now, not the other way around.

Viva la TIVO!!!
Racekarl;

Althought "Champing" is the original usage, "Chomping" is fine. Look it up.

Love my DirecTV HD Tivo, and I not about to switch to cable, but I certainly wish they'd do something about the limited, and outdated, feature set.
What a PITA!

Now every time I tell my kids to take a "wee" before we leave the house, ther're going to run off and grab the Nintendo.

What they said.

I've been an early adopter of almost every new technogy since CDs (remember those?), including my very slick 1080P HDTV set. Despite that, and my inital excitement, this one is looking more and more look like something I'm going to sit out for another couple of years. Not only that, I was orignally anticipating purchasing a second 1080P display and Media Center PC to at the same time, it's starting to look like they'll all wait a wee bit longer.

The CE manufacturers are really scr*ewing themselves over with this debacle.
Two amazing cameras - $4,900

Lenses - $15,000

Tripod, flash, memory, etc. - $4,000

The talent required to take pictures any better than what you'd get with a point-and-shoot - Priceless

Unless you're a professional (and even for 99.5% of professionals) the choice comes down to personal preference. They both have capabilites that are far beyond the abilites of probably anyone weighting in on this thread (including me and my D200).
I already have 2 PSPs and and xbox360 (both disappointments) and orginally had no intention of getting a Revolution. The more I read, however, the more it sounds like the real winner of next-gen console war will be the Nintendo.

Of course, as always, those of us who spent $$$$$ to purchase the latest and greatest DirecTV HD DVR (with Tivo) won't see any of this.

Blah!!!
I hope the price for PoE switches or power injectors has come down. PoE is an awesome idea, but last time I checked the switches cost a fortune.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"
