Also, with subscription models, you can't burn to CDs because the CD will keep working forever and not just shut off when you stop paying monthly. For those of us that only have CD players in their cars (no Aux input) this is a deal-breaker.
The college i attend is called DAAP (Design, Architecture, Art & Planning) at University of Cincinnati. I have no idea what DAAP is in this article. ???
#31... the Vaio has like 1 or 2 ports along its left side... The one in the photo has at least 6. You lose.
The point that SJ is trying to make that many missed, is that DRM'ed music is completely OPTIONAL! Buying CDs and ripping them is HARDLY a hassle. It takes maybe 5-8 minutes per CD to rip, thats about how long it takes to download an album. Used CD prices are dirt cheap these days, and you can just borrow them from your friends too. This is how it used to be before Legal Downloads and DRM bullshit.

Come back to the roots of the 90s, and buy cheap CDs, rip them, and enjoy no DRM. I buy from iTunes occasionally when they have better prices on new CDs that you cant find used yet.

Oh, and JumboBob, the retail version of Vista has been out for a week already. It's already "on us," for better or for worse.
The first impression i got when i saw that image was that it was some sort of contraceptive device.

Don't ask.
good job TUAW, you just killed the bandwidth limit on some poor .mac user's homepage. be more responsible next time :P

j/k.. i am thinking of getting a new router to replace my roommate's 3-4 year old one, but i'm not sure willing to drop almost $200 on one.. im a college student. (although i do have a 17" MBP CD...)
Aebhric -

Apple already has the iPhone's PC compliant software: it's called iTunes. Jobs already said in the keynote that iTunes will be the sole synching software that the iPhone uses. No iSync needed. Leopard shouldn't be needed to sync up.
Its not really a mirror, per se. If I was standing at a 45 degree viewing angle to the mirror/TV, i would see the same image as someone standing directly in front of it. Calling it a mirror is a bogus claim as it does not reflect any image.
Engineered by designers, eh? If that's really the case then we can expect this ModBook to be a piece of art that doesn't work worth a damn. And if it was designed by engineers then we can expect an ugly piece of junk that doesn't work worth a damn.

Sincerely,
An architect major.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
