I think "unlimited" should be in quotes...
Nice. Now show the part where your calling back your friend because the signal dropped.
Then show your friend calling back because the signal dropped. Then have a sound bite of the two of you naming off how many bars you have and who's phone must have dropped the call.
And show the real-time loading screen as you try to pull data across the cell carrier with only one or two bars.

I said it before. I'll say it again. I love the iPhone. I hate the ATT service.
Well, it seems that nobody at Engadget believes that anyone will ever change their email address. Or atleast I can't find any place to make a change to my email address... Which has changed...
I sold my 32gb 3GS on Ebay. I made enough from the sale to: cover the cost I paid for the 3GS, pay the ETF, and pay for my Droid.
I'm very happy that people really really like the iPhone...
So does the Tom Tom app have Text to Speech yet?
I went with a Sony mex-5700 that did bluetooth. It worked fine with the iPhone. Handled incoming calls. And has an external microphone. Navigation prompts were routed through the head unit. Music worked fine also.
And when I decided to get rid of the iPhone and go to the Droid it continues to work the same.

And it looks a lot less ghetto then this does.
I left ATT last Monday.
I've not had a dropped call on Verizon since I started using it..
I have a great signal no matter where I am in my house.
It was well worth the ETF.

If Apple did one up the Droid next year (and for their sake I hope they do).
First I wouldn't go back because I just couldn't take the lack of coverage any more.
Two if I did want to go back I would only have to wait 6 months since I paid an extra $30 to knock my contract down to 1 year.

As a matter of fact I've done that with all the phones I've had with the exception of when I had the iPhone. For a few bucks more I shave 12 months off my contract. And I've found that I can normally put up with almost any gadget for a year before I'm Jonesing over something else.
And I didn't switch to the Droid to hurt Apple. I still like the iPhone. But there are at least two things that need to change for me to go back to an iPhone.
1) I need to be able to make and receive calls on the phone. Which means it needs to be on Verizon.
2) I should be able to listen to something like Slacker, Pandora, Sticher, or Flycast and be able to reply to a text message without exiting the program. And no, I don't consider Jailbreaking and installing the backgrounder app as a solution to this.

If Apple takes care of those two issues I'm sure that there will be lots of people that would be happy(ier).
My Droid will be delivered tomorrow. So for the next week or so I will be comparing it side by side with my 3GS to decide which one I'll be keeping.
But I have to be honest. The only reason I even bothered to order the Droid was because of the cell coverage pretty much everywhere I frequent.
Spotty at work.
Constant dropped calls at home.
Poor voice quality.

If I know I'll be on a call that will last more then a couple of minutes at home I will fire up skype before using phone minutes.
Can I live with it? Yeah, after all this time I'm used to the dropped calls. Should I have to live with it? Nope, and that's one of the main reasons I ordered the Droid.
Will I miss the extra speed of ATT? Nope, because unless I happen to be near downtown Des Moines I don't have 3G. That includes while I'm at work or in almost any building in the Des Moines area.
@Dragngt
Verizon isn't bad mouthing the iPhone. They're bad mouthing the coverage. Heck, if anything in the first commercial they made a point to say what a good phone it was. But the coverage sucks. I bet by the time Verizon does get the iPhone it will also run 3rd party apps in the background so the "iDon't" commercial will be a mute point.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
