You do realize the dvd drive costs no more than probably $15
JD Power awards/reviews are a joke. You really shouldn't put too much faith in them. Also buying domestic? It seems to me Ford/GM/Chrysler are creating plants outside the U.S., while Honda and Toyota are creating ones inside the U.S.

And remember that JD Power is purely a survey, unlike Consumer Reports (although some people question its validity, I think it is safe to claim CR is a higher quality source of reliability than JD Power). JDP does not do any in house testing.

Enjoy "domestic" cars, while you can (oh, by the way, the quality "domestic cars" are using the european or australian models and bringing them over here).
Is there a reason it should look pretty? I don't care what my camera gear looks like as long as it does the job and this doesn't look hideous. Just looks like a piece of video equipment which it is. Therefore it is fine.
paloooz I don't know what Zune you have used, but it is not a slow interface. Actually it is the iPod 5g that lags from screen to screen, stalling when you fastforward in movies, out of different menus. Before you say Oh he is just a Zune fanboy, I have a 5.5g iPod.

There is no need to knock the Zune. It is a good product just like the iPod is a good product. They people here defend products it seems like they are getting a paycheck from that company.
i'm in
JJ you are a moron. Companies not supporting Vista is not Microsofts fault, it is those companies. MS did not tell them "don't update your drivers for Vista so we can force them to buy new products hahah."

No one forced your customers to buy Vista. And also why shouldn't MS offer different versions, considering Grandpa Joe isn't going to need the features in Ultimate. And I bet you feel real clever buy using a $ when spelling Microsoft? About as clever as using Crapple... They are both stupid. If you think MS is bad in the industry look at Apple in securing flash memory.

Windows and OSX can coexist, I don't see why one would hate another OS. There is no need for fanboyism.
Me!!!
You guys are retarded... you have 1 gig+ of memory and you don't want your OS to utilize it? Vista uses as much ram as possible, but if your applications need it then it'll scale its use back.
I hope Sony loses just because they helped usher in CD-ROM and DVD, as well as backing the floppy disk... darn you Sony...selfish Sony
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
