Glorious, tens of millions of people have died from AIDS in the Africa, not "hundreds of thousands".

There are countries in Africa where more than one third of the adult population is HIV positive. Gays have very little, if anything, to do with the African AIDS epidemic and making homosexuality punishable by death will have zero effect on the spread of AIDS. Persecution of gays is very common in African cultures.

There is practically no way to curb the spreading of AIDS in Africa. Simply too many uneducated people, poor or non-existent women's rights and archaic religions (mainly Islam and some forms of Christianity) which prevent the use of condoms.

Anyone who travels to Africa should consider that potentially every people they meet is HIV positive and act accordingly.
Yet another reason to stay out of that chaotic continent, both for gay and straight people.
Google Earth (and Google Maps with street view) is an excellent tool for "travelling" without leaving your home, especially when you consider that there is a huge number of user contributed photos accessible from Google Earth and Maps.
What a great looking laptop. Really. Simple, clean lines AND NO F**KING GLOSSY/PIANO SURFACE ANYWHERE IN SIGHT, not in the case, not in the screen!

I simply cannot understand the glossy/piano finish mania. Piano finish makes everything look just plain cheap (and disgusting after a while) and glossy renders displays unusable.

Thank god for Lenovo and other business laptop makers.
Europeans will probably be denied entry into the US too if you cannot tell where you are going to stay, at least initially. In addition, you will be photographed and your fingerprints will be taken before you can enter the country.

Oh, and you must also request travel authorization 72 hours before you arrive, whereas (I think) US Citizens are free to come and go as they please to Schengen area, as long as they have a passport.
I don't think that moving to 45nm process or whatever warrants a worldwide press announcement as 99% of the potential customers do not know what it means, let alone care.

If it's not about a price drop then something major is going to happen to the PS3 firmware (PS2 compatibility by firmware upgrade, is it possible?).
It's Kinabalu, not Kinablau.

Anyway, climbing this mountain is probably a stunning experience. Would love to do it someday.
I live in Finland and pretty much all grocery stores charge for bags (plastic, paper and "eco" bags) and have done so for decades. Eco bags are not available in every store.

Typical price is 15 euro cents for a plastic bag. However, they are quite durable and can be used several times. There's no "eco tax" on them, just the normal 22% VAT.

I usually take a smallish backpack with me to the supermarket so I don't have to buy any kind of bags that often, except garbage bags and paper bags for organic kitchen waste.
Somalians are perhaps the most unwanted immigrants in all European countries nowadays.

Here where I live we've had Somalis since the early 1990's and about 90% of them (!) still live on social security and benefits. The situation is the same in every European country who've made the grave mistake of granting them an asylum.

This piracy thing is hardly surprising - they are a major force in mindless violent crime in Europe, too.

(oh, don't bother waving the racist card at me - this has nothing to do with race)
Islamization of the western world is a great thing, indeed...

It's really amazing how we bend over to every request from the muslim community, be it a dog (!) in an advertisement which "offends" them or whatever.

Mosques are being built with tax payers money in many European countries, try to build a church in Saudi-Arabia and you'll be beheaded.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
