I owned a G( for a couple of days and exchanged it for an 870... the manual stuff was cool, but the trade off for portability vs. picture quality didn't work out in the camera's favor. Basically, image quality was not noticeably better than my old digital elf, and obviously didn't approach my Rebel. I couldn't really understand the point - they should just build full manual control into the a regular ELF body.
I'd definitely just buy the body and a lens or two, but I'd go with the 35mm f2, it doesn't have USM and it's not quite as fast, but I like it better than the 50mm. It's smaller, seems sharper, and it's closer to normal and it seems much more useful. I recently got the 10-22mm and I think it's more advanced that a novice would want. I have a hard time taking good pictures with it, and I'd go for a telephoto-zoom (like to 70-300) or the 100mm macro. I have the 17-85mm zoom that was the alternate kit lens for the XT, and I like it, but it's dog-slow and wish I had known enough to save up for the 24-70.
For all the haters who don't have one of these things, you don't know what you're missing. It feels kind of first--generation, but is totally useful and my wife and I fight over it daily. So...

Physically:

The Next button on the left is too big, in fact, I'd like a space on the left where i could hold it w/o hitting a button.

Move the power and wireless power buttons to the front and somehow secure the thing in the case better.

Electronically:

Battery life could be better.

touch-screen would be awesome. Then you could have a bigger screen.

Selection:

More magazines

NY Times and newspapers should update at various times during the day. As it is, you can read the paper in the morning, but I feel like I'm missing out later in the day when I know I can get newer news online.

anything else would be gravy
I could swear entire seasons ARE cheaper on iTunes.

It seems like any speculation about what NBC wanted with their "flexibility" is just that - speculation. They are charging iTunes prices on Amazon, so it doesn't seem like the $1.99 was a real problem. I suspect they wanted to bundle less popular shows in with the good ones, but what do I know?

It seems like once you get used to downloading stuff thru iTunes, people DO actually browse the content there looking for new shows, so it seems like pulling out of iTunes is not a good move.

For the same reason, I think the WiFI store should have podcasts. Once I get used to accessing new material on the go for free, I'll be more inclined to also make purchases that was.
I'd love to use the bluetooth dongle at the bottom of my new iTouch and then get rid of it once they reveal the built-in bluetooth.
I love my Nike+ thingamajiggie. I don't see a lot of other people with them, but it's kinda hard to spot 'em.

It seems that Nike's best running shoes are already all + compatible, but I guess for the more casual runner this will be cool. Why you'd want 'm in a basketball shoe is beyond me, but the shoes come with a little foam cork that fills up the space for the already tiny pedometer. That way if you don't use it there's no negative or "hole" in your sole.

It's all good, and there's nothing like Lance Armstrong giving you kudos after a good workout.
Anything more comfortable than those Logitech Freepulse headphones is welcome
Cable, specifically Time Warner's HD DVR
Knight Rider on UniversalHD
I, personally, love my nano. The mini was all puffed up and never did it for me. Love the size and the screen (once I put it in a case to keep if from scratching up any more)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
