@mag42987: you have no idea what you're talking about.
I spent a long time on the phone with WD furious that these drives spin down after 10 minutes. The level 2 tech said it is built into the firmware and that you cannot change it. The OS will not do anything for you with these drives.
I am an ultra-loyal WD customer. This made me stop and pause. I was so ticked that they forced me to "be green".
Therefore, I wrote a tiny little program and aptly named it MyB**** (I use it on a MyBook II).
Most people just want their computers to lock...based on a specified proximity. This program is more than that. It integrates into Windows in a way that is similar to biometric fingerprint readers - replacing the standard windows login with it's own.
I installed it and promptly uninstalled it. Most people will be fine with BlueLock (which I've been using for some time now). oneMadRssn posted the link above.
If you're in a corporate environment, do not install this without checking with your IT staff. They will shoot you on site if they see this.
Does everyone know you don't need a key to install and use? I'm typing this message on Win7 downloaded about 4 hours ago without a key.... don't know if it's been posted yet cuz there's a billion posts in here.....
p.s. Vista x64 drivers worked on my Realtek onboard Wireless NIC... so don't be afraid to try Vista drivers in Win7.....
The Engadget posting system has a bug with IE8 Win7 ;) or maybe it's the other way around?
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"

Problem solved. I'm still ticked.
