Why a boat-tail semi isn't as silly as it might sound {Autoblog}
Nov 13th 2009 1:56PM Here are some test numbers with the 7.5% and 20% figures.
Truck A gets 5 MPG
Truck B gets 5.375MPG (7.5% increase in economy)
Truck C gets 6MPG (20% increase in economy)
Doesn't look like much until you look at yearly numbers.
If the trucks both drive 120,000 miles per year or 10,000 miles per month.
Truck A will use 24,000 gallons of diesel per year or 2,000 gallons per month
Truck B will use 22,325 gallons of diesel per year or 1,860 gallons per month
Truck C will use 20,000 gallons of diesel per year or 1,667 gallons per month
Truck B has a yearly savings of 1,675 gallons or 140 gallons per month
Truck C has a yearly savings of 4,000 gallons or 333 gallons per month
If that diesel costs $3.00 per gallon
Truck B saves $5, 025 per year or $420 per month
Truck C saves $12, 000 yearly or $1000 per month
If the company has a fleet of 100 trucks this is a fleet savings of
$502, 500 per year with B trucks
$1,200,000 per year for C trucks
The little changes can add up.
ASUS: "Our goal is to provide products that are better than Apple's" {Engadget}
Jun 9th 2009 5:04PM Ed T: What are you going on about? Did I shoot your puppy or something? I have run into several people who think that Apple actually owns and operates assembly plants, which they do manage some, but only for final assembly not ground up manufacture. As for software, there was no mention of that within my post, only hardware. In the end though, did you really have to resort to insults and attacks or are you just angry and blowing it our your arse?
ASUS: "Our goal is to provide products that are better than Apple's" {Engadget}
Jun 9th 2009 3:15PM One thing everyone seems to miss when talking about Apple hardware is that it's not actually made by Apple, only designed. ASUS makes hardware for the iPod and Mac Book product lines that Apple ordered.

Jun 5th 2009 12:47AM Genie GT-31 Waterproof Sport GPS Data Logger
I use mine for geocaching, as a bike computer, to track photos, and to add to the open street map project. It's about 150USD for the non-bluetooth version (GT-31) and you add 15 for bluetooth (BGT-31). It has about a 30-45 hour battery life depending on backlight usage.

PhaseOne P40+ medium format camera hits the streets of Copenhagen {Engadget}
Apr 29th 2009 6:52PM It's medium format and is larger than full frame. A Medium Format sensor is approximately 50.7x39mm and a full frame is 36x24mm so a MF sensor has 2 1/4 times the area of full frame. If I am wrong, someone please correct me.
