Ovi Maps is free. It's only the turn by turn navigation that costs plus detailed city maps.
@asiantraveler

Uh... that refers to all sales, not converged devices (smartphones) which are up. Try again.

I agree. It's too pricey and too underpowered. Bung a better CPU in it, 2GB of RAM and drop the price and it's a winner.
@techinsane

Err... the N95 is on v31 firmware, the 5800 on v30, the N96 on v20 something.

I think you'll find they do.
@Vendettx

Right. Because the iPhone isn't 'kust one model', is it?

Well, it's not I suppose - it's actually three although most sites seem to froth on about total iPhone sales rather than splitting them down (because if you do the numbers aren't quite as impressive - they're roughly equivalent to N95 and 5800 numbers and way off N73 numbers) but you get my point.

Besides Nokia have commited to launching another Maemo device in 2010 anyway.
"Interestingly, the company says that it's looking to the low- to midrange smartphone realm as a hot new competitive frontier"

Well, yeah, that's been their strategy for well over a year now.

As for all the people rabbitting on about Symbian being doomed, may I remind you who's still the Daddy and by a huge margin?
@Vendettx

Err... the E61i is vastly inferior to the E71 and now the E72. Just because something looks like something doesn't mean it's the same.

People buying E series phones usually don't have web browsing as their top priority either I'd point out.
@surgex

Sure, the N95 and E71 were total failures.

Dolt.
@josesxi

It's OK, it's for people with jobs so there's no need for you to worry.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
