I'm still disappointed there are only 2 usb ports. I have 3 on my Acer Aspire One, and one of those is permanently hogged for my Logitech Nano mouse. (and if a little runt like that can have 3, why not a Macbook?)

Most of my USB devices are wide, so it would end up being cable city to attach everything. The price isn't so cheap in Aussie dollars either.
If used the right way, this can be a valuable addition to a classroom. Sure, they need pencil and paper still, but for quizzes, tests - if it means that the teacher has less marking, and the students can get instant feedback, then all the better. See, as a former teacher that was the first thing I saw

I also agree with the comments that if used properly, it can make learning more interactive and value add to many subjects. So long as the teacher has hacked their own station so they can play endless rounds of 'Bejeweled', then it will be perfect.
I considered that at first, but realised that in the 3 years I had my last Dell laptop, I might have used the DVD player about 3 times. Ok, so maybe a couple more when I was installing the odd piece of software.

I added a Logitech Nano mouse and a WD My Passport 320Gb external drive, and that makes up for it. If I need to watch a movie or something, I'll just copy over to the external drive, and that will do me fine.
I only bought mine yesterday, and yes, I know what I paid for. But with the price come down here in oz because of the imminent upgrade to a bigger battery, I really can't complain.

The SD slot reads my 4Gb SDHC, which is great, and the keyboard is only slightly squishier than my wireless Mac keyboard, and my 3 year old dell inspiron keyboard.

But please, please, could they put the usb slots a little further apart? I have a broadband modem from my phone company that is easily the width of two football fields. Assy, I know, but necessary for my internet connection.

Those complaining about the trackpad, go get a Logitech nano mouse. It's perfect for this thing, and you can disable the trackpad and all is well.

But yeah, another Gb of RAM and a 6 cell battery and I wouldn't be unhappy.
I was surprised by that too. You notice the speed on a 4Gb SDHC card is so much slower than even a 2Gb SD.

I'm guessing it is likely a push by manufacturers and the fact that so many devices now are stopping CF compatibility because everything must be micro mini sized and SDHC is seen to be better because it's smaller. So in other words, aesthetics. Either that, or they had to free up space to fit more into the camera's body.

Whatever the reason, it is a real shame.
Yes, but you still have to pay on top of that the $80 unlocking fee plus the $80 of call credits, but if you keep it on Optus for a little while, the cost of unlocking goes down.
Here in Australia you can buy the iPhone unlocked from Optus, for $729, ($849 for the 16Gb) plus $80 call credits, plus $80 unlocking fee, and it's yours to use on any plan, pre or post paid on any network. Link to site here.

A bargain at half the price.
I take it you live alone, don't have kids or babies around, or know someone who works in the automotive industry... It's a GOOD day when there are less than 3 loads of washing to be done.
I read that you had to add 20Kg of these chips to each washing load. These chips could be used up to 100 washes before replacing. Depending on how many washes you do a month, that could be anywhere from 240Kg upwards of plastic chips per annum that would need disposing of.

You can't tell me *that's* a fair trade to the environment over a couple of cups of water.

Besides, how big would the machine have to be to fit 20Kg of plastic chips, plus washing?
Ooh, shiny keyboard! You guys rock!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
