Optical drive is way pricy, that is bullshit even for an Oem drive. This is list pricing on how much it would cost to make if buying each part as 1 and not in millions at a time to get vat reductions and lower cost per part. Not to mention that a 3.2ghz ppc core does not exist, what happened to the quad core?
Answer to Joshua - I beleive if my memory serves me correctly, that earlier in the year, Redhat proposed their plans to sell the intel macs with a precompiled and installed redhat OS. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060125-6045.html
Why do women always dump you after you buy them a nice gift? - One for the 'code pink' girl
I used to own a dual core toshiba laptop with all the bells and whistles spenk £2k basic spec and upgrades. Even with the 7200rpm drive and always on gps i could use it for upwards of 120 minutes in the car. It was listed as a desktop replacement, i just think that the alienware system more than likely has some low 2600mah battery cells which i would definately modify.
And it also has a configurable double optical drive option. Two dual layers, just incase you can be bothered to eject that age old driver disc.
EVILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!
Now i dont have to hack my normal laptop to run osx86 (i didnt say that) Intel with mac design its gonna be fast. Dual boot here we comw!
No Headphone jack ? must be a new plan to get people buying those burton/moto jackets with integrated wireless speakers and play controls. itunes in your coat baby. i cant wait for bluetooth to get small enough to fit into ibud size enclosures or a necklace?
What do you expect for the price? If it doesnt perform as you want it to, buy another one or wait a few years for them to become standardised. 70 inches? The only way you are going to afford is if you are very rich and have a long living room, otherwise a 70 inch is going to fry your brain in an average room.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
