Forum post of the day: Flying mounts in the old world {WOW Insider}

Mar 22nd 2008 11:38PM Crap, don't tell your "crazy ideas" like you know it for fact. You can jump from Winterspring to Azshara without a loading screen. And there are lots of other examples that prove you wrong. There is no "loading at choke points" because it wouldn't make a difference if you load a whole zone there or anywhere else, you would always notice if it was loading a whole zone at once. Just like when you port somewhere. It's constantly loading small cells of the world while you go. Couldn't do it any other way.

And there are "glass walls" in the Outlands. Just try to fly over the Black Temple. Or between Shadowmoon Valley and Hellfire Pen. at the eastern end. There are few, but they are there.

They could easily hide them by putting up a realy strong air defense around them. Like the ones at the bombing runs at Orgrila, just way more futile. That way no one would get close enough to actually "feel" them, unless you were cheating anyway.

Making Azeroth ready for free flying would be a major piece of redesign and fixing flaws, but I for one would love them to do it. Even if it means a few months more till the next expansion hits.

Dallas considers shutting off red light cams, since they're working too well and harming revenue {Engadget}

Mar 17th 2008 3:21AM Moxy, the revenue made here is made by a private organisation. The goverment was just a means to an end. And that's what (actual) capitalism is all about: Making money. Naturaly those who have money have the easiest ways to make more money. Your notions of just and fair captialism are pipe dreams, the reality is that capitalism is about power and control for an elite group of individuals, while a (real) democracy would put the power and control into the hands of the goverment that would be supposed to care for *all* people, not just those who have money and power. Calling the USA a collectivism is ridiculous. And "Eminent Domain" is used more for capitalistic purposes than for any social reason. Just because laws with social intend are abused by capitalists doesn't make the state a socialism.

You're living in a fucked up capitalistic oligarcy of the rich and powerful.
Get your head out of your textbooks and take a look at the world your living in.

And your quote is a totaly different matter. According to it, you have already lost your freedom.

Dallas considers shutting off red light cams, since they're working too well and harming revenue {Engadget}

Mar 15th 2008 10:31PM The best way to reduce spending would be not to get into grossly overpriced contracts. "$3,799 per month per online camera" sounds like the worst deal ever for the people who pay, pretty good deal for the company that supported someones campagin. They are surely past ROI or they wouldn't be allowed to "consider" anything.

Don't hold to that stupid notion the US gov is there for the people, for safety or any other civil reason, it's only there to bolster capitalism. You know, what the US gov calls democracy is actually just capitalism, that's why some contries don't care to get it stuffed down their throats.

Japan's Shougaku Ichinensei mag bundles "finger piano" for kids {Engadget}

Mar 15th 2008 2:08AM Wow, the crap you get with magazines got more technical within the last 20 years. Who'ld have thought?

I hope, in a few years, when my son will be six or so, they'll bundle even more advanced crap. Mobiles, Laptops and such. Though, by then I'll probably have bought him some low end but good quality gear anyway.

Eee PC with all the hacks, but can it ever learn to love? {Engadget}

Jan 20th 2008 5:44AM Where is the touchscreen? Without the touchscreen this hardly qualifies as gadget porn ;)

Vuzix iWear AV920-C further isolates multi-player gamers {Engadget}

Jan 17th 2008 6:19AM Nop, it doesn't, but you fell for their well done product shots ;)

Well, maybe someone *could* get doom running on the glasses themself, but I guess it won't be soon, fluent or anywhere near playable ...

Jan 17th 2008 6:17AM Hmm, and how do you control the four players on one computer?

I've been looking for a multi-input solution from time to time just out of curiosity, but never found anything.

I can imagine some funny uses for it, but nothing practical comes to mind, only artsy/experimental stuff.

NewerTech intros USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter {Engadget}

Jan 15th 2008 7:18AM There is an additional power supply, not shown in the photo. But you could also just extend one of your computers HHD powercables if you want to get rid of it an your computers power supply still has the juice.

For SATA drives there is an adapter included, and for the 2,5" IDE HHDs that are powered by the main connector there is an adapter that plugs into the USB unit to pass the power through to the drive.

Got an older model, without the snazzy leds, and it works like a charm. Though the picture is missleading, that small device is not realy all you need ;)

AgfaPhoto intros new Linux-based, WiFi-equipped digital photo frame {Engadget}

Jan 11th 2008 10:59PM This photoframe is quite interesting, open platform for the win and the bezel is not as big as all the others. It'll all come down to the price and how "open" it actually is. Could be a realy huge step forward from the primitive media displays spawned thus far.

National Breast Cancer Foundation CAT5 cable in pink... with crystals {Engadget}

Jan 8th 2008 1:14PM This is so damn ridiculous. I just love it.

I don't care about the cancer spin, but pink CAT5 cables with crystals, that's just the best. If you know a girl with a little humor that is ...
