Bad news everywhere..even as a Sony fanboy, I must admit, I began to stray. I almost purchased a 360. But this news, this glimmer of hope in a sea of terrible news surrounding the PS3 launch is enough to bring me back home.
Further more, no matter WHY Sony is dropping the price: to be more competitive, to respond to the 360 price-drop-accusations, to shock and awe us all, [which they no doubt did], it worked.
Well played, Sony. I'll be first in line, come the 17th.

I've been a Sony Fanboy since I got my PS2, and for the first time, I am ashamed to say it.
Delays...a whopper of a price...limited dev support...big loading times...and now, more delays.
Dammit Sony, you better make it up to us. Now.

Is clearly what Sony is living by, which makes sense given their previous victories in the console market --
from the DualShock to the XMB [which, fanboys, debuted in the PSX, NOT the PSP].
This debug version isn't expected to have all the bells and whistles that the final consumer version will -- I hope. But if this is what I see when I boot up my PS3, Sony, I'll be disappointed. At least until I pop in Sonic and forget about it all.
