I just hope the Boxee beta is performs significantly better than Boxee alpha and has harmony remote support. I had to switch to Plex for both of these reasons. For example, Boxee would screen tear with 1080p content on my Mac Mini, but Plex plays it back like a champ.
I like Boxee, but their performance seems to suck compared to Plex on my Mac Mini. By sucking, I mean screen tearing with 1080p videos.

I've heard Plex uses multi-threaded video decoding so it can utilized a multicore system, where Boxee can't. Not sure if that's true or not.
I'm still not very happy that they decided to double-dip this game with a GOTY edition with content you can't download... pretty lame on their part.

I'm also really surprised by how few official level packs have been released... I think they blew some really good potential there.

Anyways, I sold mine after the GOTY edition hit. Maybe I'll pick it back up once GOTY is in the bargain bin for $20.
I don't know, I pay $30/month for data and rarely go over 100 MB. As long as they set a bandwidth cap (even 1 GB a month), I think you should be able to use it however you want.
Wouldn't charging to tether violate this? Wouldn't that imply that each carrier would have to publicly state what the bandwidth cap is and NOT charge for tethering? I've always seen charging for tethering as a violation of net neutrality. Just because the packets are coming from my laptop's web browser doesn't mean I should have to pay more for them.
I think using PSP2 in the post title wasn't the best choice... I thought you meant the next Sony PSP version at first...

How about:

Phantasy Star Portable characters won't transfer into the sequel
Any clue how to tell who the recipients are in a multi-recpient Facebook message in the app? I was hoping they would fix that with 3.0. Right now you can't respond to a message without knowing who else might be seeing it (without logging into the site). Other than that, great update.
@LAGal

I'm not sure if I understand your "that's not a subsidy, that's a cheaper plan." comment.

That's like saying, it's not a subsidized phone, it's a cheaper phone.

The only benefit that a consumer gets for resigning their contract every two years is a cheaper phone, locking them in to whatever phones their carrier has. If a consumer doesn't want to go with a phone that their carrier has, they should get a cheaper "subsidized" monthly rate. I believe that's how it works in Europe. The current model is broken since you lose any benefit for not sticking with your carrier's phones.
@cheetalot

I was trying to think what would make the market more competitive like you mentioned... how about:

- Make it illegal to REQUIRE a contract to start a phone plan (or a contract for a specific phone)
- If you do want to sign an optional contract, make the subsidy come out of monthly plan fee and not the phone. This will remove the phone ties to the carrier
- Make phone locking illegal. If not, at least require a mandatory unlock after 1 yr (I believe France requires this)

Once 4G rolls out, using the same phone across more carriers in the US should be easier at least.

What also kills me is if you do have an iPhone and decide to leave AT&T, you still can't use it on other carriers since the phone is still locked.
What kills me is that if AT&T is saying certain apps use too much bandwidth, then set a bandwidth cap.

I should be able to:
-Tether my phone for free
-Download an app from the app store that is over 10 MB via 3G
-Stream video from my slingbox over 3G
-Use any VOIP app that I want over 3G

If any of the above uses too much bandwidth, just give me a 2-5 GB cap each month and cripple my bandwidth if I go over it.

I think doing anything different than what I mentioned above violates net neutrality.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
