CRTC sets net neutrality rules for Canada, allows throttling as 'last resort' {Engadget}

Oct 21st 2009 2:35PM I'm a little confused; does this mean that Bell will stop throttling me (well, my ISP TekSavvy actually) between 4:00 PM and 2:00 AM every goddamn day of the week?

See USB flash drives manufactured in this shocking behind-the-scenes video {Engadget}

Aug 25th 2009 5:10AM He said maybe three words total that I didn't understand at first. I would hardly call that "butchering" it. Also, he is speaking the language properly, better than 90% of the people posting in the comments.

I don't see how someone else reporting on this would have made much of a difference. Obviously the other reporters would be just as clueless as to exactly how these machines work. In my opinion, he did an "okay" job. It would have also worked without narration.

P.S. The main reason I commented on that particular post is because the OP made absolutely no sense.

Aug 25th 2009 4:56AM This guy was not an American. Judging by his name in the credits and his accent; he appears to be German. I don't understand why people are saying his pronunciation was "horrible", I understood everything he said without difficulty. I'd like to see you all speak perfect German *rolls eyes*.

Aug 14th 2009 3:22AM That's one of only well written textbooks I used last year. I learned my entire math course without even attending most classes :). James Stewart is a god-like textbook writer.

Digital Rosetta Stone memory could last a thousand years {Engadget}

Jun 24th 2009 12:52AM Well, since we're on the topic of things that have the same name as this article, but are completely unrelated; here are my takes on the Rosetta Stone language learning software.

I honestly don't think it's really worth as much as it costs. The quality of the sound clips aren't very consistent (some, such as polish, being pretty bad). It also fails to teach you any grammar whatsoever, so you don't really understand what's being said - only the general idea. The vocabulary it also gives you is also somewhat narrow and doesn't go very far with anything useful beyond the very basics.

I guess it's a neat toy to play around with as an addition to actual learning from a class, but it definitely cannot be a substitute for a class as they make it out to be.
