bit of a failure of your reading skills to not notice the article's sarcasm relating to the proprietary headphone jacks when in fact the article states "Like DAPs with...non-proprietary headphone jacks...? Yamaha's BODiBEAT is not for you"

@amateur music snobs

thanks for taking time out of your busy vinyl-buying schedules to impart your opinions as fact. There's a reason songs by Sting and the Postal Service get chosen for ads, and not Aphex Twin. Go snark on a music blog.
"The nation's elite often enjoy lavish luxuries of first-world countries while the vast majority of its people are left without bare necessities"

Now, I know that the majority of Americans are not without bread and water, but have you seen 'super sweet sixteen' recently? Can we please have a ban on selling luxury cars and $100,000 pieces of jewelry to spoiled record execs' kids?
this is a fitting tribute to Sony's problems with blue diode laser manufacturing troubles.
Finally, we've reached an age in which wheelchairs are no longer dependent on the disabled to lead full, productive lives.
Jeez, when is the third world gonna realize that if they EVER plan to join the iPod toting masses, they're seriously going to have to get rid of those massive screen bezels. Worse than teh Zune.
yeah, highly appropriate background picture. I guess it's supposed to be her having fun at the social?
WOW that lapboard's awesome. I'm gonna buy 50,000 shares tomorrow - got a friend tells me their stocks down right now, but it's gonna blow up! At least the e-mail said he was my friend...!
You know, I'm thinking more and more that Microsoft is onto something with their whole 'social' bent. The iPod ads always portrayed the iPod as a way to personalize your music experience, always one person in silhouette.

This being the case, Microsoft has probably taken the correct advertising step of portraying itself in the opposite light - sharing your music and opening up, having a PMP party (whatever that is) - and their video ads really reflec this. I think a lot of people have a sort of fatigue of seeing everyone around them tuned out with earbuds firmly in place.

Of course, I say this as a happily tuned-out iPod owner, and with the full knowledge that it's all just advertising and image anyways. It's still an interesting politic.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
