If they're using sunk cost, they need to apply it to both scenarios. The iPod functions under sunk cost as well. 120GB ≠ 120GB of purchased songs so ≠ 30,000.

Subscription might be nice for the iPod (I'd buy it) but it's not equal to $30k of content. Who fills up 120GB with only music, and only music purchased from the iTunes store?

It's like saying you could fill up a grocery cart with nothing but diamonds, and it would cost millions, or just fill it up with twinkies, and save a few million dollars. They don't equate.
Yup they put thought into it. They thought "hey, no one we're targeting for our ads will think of these things, because the only people who buy Zunes are idiots."

Nice how the ad cleverly forgets you need to buy a Zune.
First Apple was a ][+, then a //e, //c. 2GS, then finally a Mac SE then SE/30 and so on.
This is a silly theory. Trade shows are expensive and don't provide a great return on investment these days. This is doubly true for a trade-only show like CES, which exist in theory so that retailers and distributors can connect to the manufacturers and see what products they want to sell for the upcoming season.

Apple doesn't need that interaction, as they already have retail stores. They don't need to convince stores to carry the consumer goods—every big box retail store on earth wants to carry the iPod. And they don't need the media attention, after all, they're pulling out of a show called MAC world.

Trade shows are expensive, they're resource hogs, and they're logistical nightmares. They're not pulling out of one show to go to a bigger, more annoying show.
Would also love invite.
First of all, best...keynote...tip...ever, thanks.

Second

>>Yeah.. I have Mouseposé but what Steve does is actually inside the keynote presentation, and it's not controlled by the mouse, instead its just like a box.... ie. introducing the media keys on the new thin aluminium keyboard.
So WowWee made the same useless small flying helicopter I bought from ThinkGeek last year. Only their remote is bigger. Whoopie.
While the positive comments seem to indicate that people want this as a desktop image, it seems the problem is that this isn't a desktop, it's a website. And as a website background it's increidbly poorly chosen. I'm also going to switch to reading the RSS feed for the site.
I've discovered a bug in iPhoto where if you try to bring images from Aperture into iPhoto it imports them in the order of the original file name, even if you renamed them.

Or IS It a bug? Maybe Apple wants me to stick with the naming scheme of my camera. Are they somehow in cahoots with Canon to make sure that people use Canon's proprietary naming sequence? Does Apple not want people to utilize their own order?

Drop it already guys.
Of course, "analysts" were off on the number of iPhones sold by between 200,000-500,000 in first week analysis (depending on which analyst you listened to) so I'm not really going to put a lot of stock in that 10% figure.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
