First Look: WordPress {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 22nd 2008 10:08AM This is what I was waiting for, if only it weren't buggy.
I've run a photo moblog, using a cludgy MMS to email plugin method of posting, which I would later log in and clean up. Now I can make posts and include photos very easily.
However my other blog isn't working for some reason. The WP app just shows the data refresh wheel spinning to the right continuously, and never stops or lets me access it. Sometimes it eventually crashes.
Both blogs are running 2.6.
Hopefully they can soon fix bugs, and add some comment tools.
An Introduction to Apple Certification {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jun 12th 2008 3:44PM I must admit the Hardware certs are tough, especially when you start, and walk into a 3rd party facility and try to take the test without any materials. They are designed to use all of the available service manuals (and therefore re-certifications are simply just a lot of quick research), but you don't have any of that on your first exam. Despite knowing macs inside and out like the back of my hand, I just barely passed. One of the crazy ones was what was the part number of the motherboard of some G3 tower that was at the time several years old. There are some questions on the other end of the spectum as well, but the best advice is to really learn the just-before-current generation of macs very well...scour the service manuals if you've been given them.

TUAW Special: 24-Hour Evernote beta invitation {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
May 20th 2008 9:47AM It would be much nicer if you could output its textual information obtained from images. The mac version doesn't allow you to export at all, and the windows just exports a web page with the original picture embedded. No way to make use of its decoded text except for internal searching. It has potential to be very useful if its encoding could be saved or passed off to another app.

Poll: Would you buy a 12" MacBook Pro? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
May 14th 2008 9:28AM Yes. This is long overdue, and what I was hoping for when the macbook air came out. I've always preferred portables to be as small as possible. Look how well the EeePC is doing.
Mozy 1.0 {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
May 2nd 2008 8:58AM They just added code MACMOZY to give a 15% discount through may 8 (according to today's newsletter).
I've been using Mozy very happily for most of a year now.
The initial backup may take several days or fail because of the slow transfer rate; if you are throwing several gigs at them it may be easier to slowly turn on one folder at a time. Once you get over that hump it works great.

Verizon gets official with massive FiOS TV HD VOD rollout {Engadget HD}
Apr 2nd 2008 11:17PM I tried it out tonight. Disappointed that the HD listings are just a textual title list and not photos as shown in the picture with SD movies.
Browsed the free stuff and had a good laugh watching "How to Boil Water"

Mar 27th 2008 4:17PM There's a big thread over in AVS forum discussing the same topic:

Unfortunately there still does not seem to be any conclusion yet. I'll be waiting another month or so and hopefully winners will be clearer before my coupons expire.
