Tamron announces 15x zoom lens for Nikon, Canon DSLRs {Engadget}
Aug 3rd 2008 11:38AM As the megapixel-fixated consumers are now buying entry level dSLR (and most of them are buying into certain C/N brands); we are entering the era of the "lens focal length/zoom ratio race". Just ONE number to get people into impulse buying, this time marketing swap MP with mm/zoom. "18-250mm is last year model, get the 18-300mm NOW"....you get the idea.
That makes me wonder why Tamron only announces the lens for these 2 particular brands.....

Aug 1st 2008 6:19PM This actually looks better than the original ps3 controller.
Fujifilm FinePix S100FS gets reviewed {Engadget}
Jul 27th 2008 10:27PM This will be the perfect backup camera for dSLR owners if Fuji put less zoom (6x-8x) but use better optics and larger sensor. I just don't see how often the full 14.3x (400mm+ focal length) will be used; and when its not used the pictures are produced using optics that are compromised to fit the huge zoom. If I know focal length > 300mm will be used and quality is still a big concern, I would bring the dSLR with all proper equipment.
Entry level dSLRs are cheap these days but once you go beyond the kit lens things can get expensive; you will end up spending way more than $800 on a dSLR. The S100fs has "almost" all-in-one for $800 without the lens changing is still a good option for many people (dSLR owner or not) IMHO. Just that I do not agree with Fuji to have a huge zoom fit into the camera @ the cost of reduced image quality.
Pentax K200D gets reviewed {Engadget}
Jul 5th 2008 5:38PM Just got the K200d a few weeks ago, after following the rumors and reviews from all the way back to last November. Time well spent because the camera is GREAT!
Taken over 500 shots so far and I am still on the first set of Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable AA batteries. Every lens I have now and in future will be stablized thanks to the in-body shake reduction. I like the high quality body and feels good in my hands.
The weather sealing is something I don't yet need but sure will come in handy when I'm on vacation.
Fuji releases the FinePix A850, world yawns {Engadget}
May 25th 2008 12:31PM looks more like a Benq/GE camera than a fuji.....
I thought they are using the new J series to replace the A series....now what's going on?
Compal: 8.9-inch Dell laptop coming in June for less than $499 {Engadget}
Apr 10th 2008 12:20AM Hopefully it comes with either Linux or WinXP. If its Windows Vista then I will cross this out of my list, I just don't think a sub-compact laptop like this can sufficiently run Vista plus other apps at the same time.
WD's My Passport Essential: now in 11 different colors {Engadget}
Apr 10th 2008 12:10AM looks like a box of crayons when all different colors are stacked together.
Its only good to get if you can buy more than one and stack them
Conceptual Crystal LED wristwatch is all kinds of gorgeous {Engadget}
Apr 10th 2008 12:05AM I agree that a black one would be nice. A brown one would give a leather-looking to it so it may be even better.
Dreamcast demo display shows up on eBay {Engadget}
Mar 4th 2008 8:29PM Wow who would've thought there would still be news about Sega Dreamcast...
The DC always keep me thinking what good games I could have if Sega didn't given up on in pre-maturely. It will always have a place in my heart.
Fujifilm's FinePix S100FS is their "most advanced" consumer model {Engadget}
Jan 24th 2008 5:31PM Too bad it uses the NP-140 battery and not the 4xAA otherwise I will be all over this baby...I always prefer cameras that uses AA batt so I am freed from buying $50-a-pop propietary batteries....
Now I am torn between this or the new Pentax K200D....
