Seeing as ATT beefed up their employee numbers for the week of the Developers Conference, and the Iphones are no longer available directly from Apple, I believe that Apple will no longer be selling the iphones directly.

I think they will be selling them exclusively through ATT stores. It makes sense if you consider all the money that has been lost by unlocking the iphones. Now they have to lock people into a contract and therefore solidify their revenue stream.
