Darren is absolutely right. The throughput limits in the TiVo for streaming and file transfer are in the processor and OS speeds. I have all of my TiVo units on wired 100MB LAN and they are still slow as dirt for transferring recordings, especially if the units are recording other shows at the same time.

I am rather disappointed that we aren't getting a Series 4 this year that makes use of a faster processor and a native HD user interface.

Always hope they pull their heads out and get something on the market next spring that doesn't look like it was designed in the year 2000.
TiVo,

2006 is calling and wants Series 3 back. Where the hell is our Series 4?
Say hi to Uncle Fester for me! Ask him why MS is spending so much advertising on Apple when they are a "statistical anomaly" in the home computing market.
Can you guys let us know how well the automatic screen dimming works and whether or not you can set multiple wake up alarms for this? I am very interested in replacing the alarm clock we have in our bedroom with this device, but my wife and I each need our own alarms and it needs to be pretty easy to set.

Also, I am a light sleeper and it would need to have the screen dim to almost black for me to be able to deal with it in a dark bedroom at night.

Thanks!
If they don't get the Series-4 out they're going to be bleeding more.

Come on TiVo, get with the program, get Series 4 out there at least on people's radar!!
Because the LG, like every other all-in-one to date lacks HDMI inputs and other features that those manufacturers have reserved for their separates products.

This one looks pretty good, although Samsung speakers are known for being somewhat cruddy.

I would probably be more inclined myself to get Yamaha RXV464 ($299), BD player of the week ($199) and some entry level speakers over this but it's a nice option for those who want a simple all in one box product.
Free stuff kicks ass.
I have a feeling you're in the minority on that. I've converted six friends to Mac and they all LOVE the Mac. I only run Windows under boot camp to play games (which my iMac does pretty well with the 4850 Radeon in it).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
