If Square Enix puts the final fantasy games on the VC, they won't be able to charge $30 for the remixed anniversary versions. Furthermore, people buying some crappy shooter isn't going to get them to release the FF games. It's not like there is some bean-counter in Japan saying, "There was good demand for our crummy shooter. Maybe fans of this game would also buy FF because it is also made by us." They already know people like FF. It costs them nothing to release it on the VC. The only reason they haven't done it is because it is not as profitable as selling anniversary editions.
You wish you were a grammar nerd. There is nothing grammatically incorrect about a long sentence.
The $400 PS3 is coming very soon. . .
Howard Stringer viewed as ineffective? The stock has gone up about 70% since he was named CEO. You clearly do not have the foggiest idea what you are talking about.

HD DVD is so cheap because they are losing. They are selling the players at a loss and bribing studios to go exclusive to stay in the format war.
The 360 begins to be comparable after spending 100 dollars on the wifi dongle, and 200 for the HD-DVD dongle, and then you have to pay 50 bucks to play online.
Free BD's not counted in totals. This should be obvious. If Sony counted the 400k they gave away in the US and the 500k they gave away in the UK, they'd be a 2 million.
Hey Simon, I think you're referring to BDJava(I don't know of any hardware changes). The PS3 firmware can be updated, and I think most of the standalone players also have an ethernet jack for this purpose.
I was in one of these things and it was really awesome. It had stuff to watch, showed our route on a map, and you could pay with your credit card. I can't wait until they all have them.
I can't believe anyone working for Sony would bring up price cuts. It's sort of crazy how often these execs misspeak. Tiuk, Canadian stores raised prices because of your weak currency. I would say that the PSP would get a price cut before the PS3. Then again, now that the cell processor is already down to 65nm a price cut could be more feasible.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
