I hope to take a 'round-the world journey this summer, flying to Europe and then taking trains to Moscow, and the Transsiberian Railway across Asia to Beijing, on to Tokyo, and then to LA and an Amtrak back to the midwest. I'm going to need some rugged storage for pictures and videos taken along the way, not to mention some movies to entertain me through the vast emptiness of Siberia.
New processors from Intel and a Mac Notebook to fit each one... all the way down to the new dual-core Atom they will release today that will find it's way into the low-end Macbook for $799. All new NVidia graphics cards across the board too. Hard drive and memory bumps for all, including SSD options at 128gb.
Mac Mini update?
Price cut and dual core Atom would work oh so perfectly.
Macbook Air will get few if any changes.
Heres the big one though: Firewire "2008". It was expected in October, and works through a FW 800 port, which is the only port we've seen on the new cases. It will offer FW400 FW800 FW1600 and (maybe only on the Pros) FW3200. This will continue Apple's stronghold on creative professionals, especially anyone who works with HD video and needs big and fast external storage. No need for eSATA anymore boys.

Apple TV Update? Can we hope? If anything it needs more storage, and 1080p support. I'd love to see an integrated aluminum AppleTV television. Just 3-4 models in the line, someone else's panel powered by Apple's hardware (there was a patent for a more complete Apple TV, w/ tuner and full remote, some time ago) with DVR and streaming capability? What can top that? Maybe Sling-like capability and an App on the App store. These are just dreams, but wouldn't be too hard to execute Steve.
I saw one in BestBuy (in St. Cloud, MN) yesterday! It wasn't very visible at the back of the computer section but it was there. For sale now.
Maybe it's just my computer but suddenly iSync disappeared and doesn't work after doing this update. It "is not supported on this architecture".
To Domenick:
Oh forgive me sir you are indeed so wise. You used an "archaic" phrase and cited the Bible. I bow to your cranial superiority. But could I trouble you for an answer to my allegations of your unsupported argument and lack of economic sense? Thanks.
Why not do what they already do in many places (I saw it in Thailand), and use natural gas? Taxis and tuk tuks all over the world use natural gas as a fuel, most often as a supplement to a normal petrol combustion engine. I have seen this from Poland to Thailand. This with the single cylinder 4-stroke engine would have a huge impact.
I am as far as possible from being a Bush fan as you can get, but I also hate when people just go with a trend and don't really think for themselves. Hate Bush for the right reasons if you're going to hate him.
Take a class in economics and you will learn something. Increased demand (due to corn being used to make ethanol) for corn will raise the quantity AND price of corn on the market. The only reference you made was a guy suggesting that increased availability of corn is evidence that ethanol isn't affecting food availability or price. Corn has become a more profitable crop for farmers so some of them will switch to corn and others will just grow more. This means all crops will feel an upward pressure on price. Corn will be produced more, and others less. But overall prices are going up no matter what.
Also you make it sound like the government investing in "cellulosic ethanol" is an obviously ludicrous concept. Why exactly? I'd say its one of his better investments dollar for dollar, considering some of the extended overseas journeys we have embarked on under this leader.
Oh, and "spake" is definitely not the past tense of "to speak". You ARE a man of words, aren't you?
I find it funny that so many people complain about Starbucks. It is a business, if you don't like it DON'T GO THERE.
I was just about to review it, my mom just got one (I'm 18, its still ok to live with my mom). It ran Super Pi to 2m digits in 1m 07s. I'm impressed though it is damn big.
Probably not an elite because they weren't available at the time of shooting ;)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
