I second Booq bag. I have the same thing for my MacBook Pro 17. Outstanding product.
I saw an emachine with similar specs at Best Buy last week. I thought it looked pretty sweet, especially for the price. It was cheaper than my MSI Wind. I almost pulled the trigger on it for my mom to replace her iMac G4 that died. The specs concerned me from a long term perspective and it was XP. I wanted something with Leopard so I could take control of her machine and fix issues that crop up with her. Also, we do video iChat and that machine did not have a web cam. At the end of the day, the specs concerned me the most. All she does is email and web, but video is becoming a big component of the web and this probably does that pretty poorly. I know my Wind does not handle video too well. I am sure this Lenovo is pretty much the same.
I think if I was considering this cam or the Flip, which I am personally not, I would be waiting to see if the iPod Touch offers video like the iPhone 3Gs. I would go for the Touch. If it launches with 720p HD video then the new Touch is a no brainer over this or the Flip.
I bought one of the first ones on a lark about 2 years ago. I bought it to watch podcasts on and as a toy basically. I had pretty low expectations and it lived up to them. The problem was basically just a lack of available content. BUT fast forward to when apple released a new version of the software and the rental store. That update gave the product new life and now I rent all my movies on apple tv and it is wonderful on-demand product. I prefer it to my directv pay-per-view. I have not experienced the issues with the hardware that the author seems to be speaking of. I think the problem with the product is that it fills a very narrow niche. I have a feeling that the new tablet or super-sized ipod with a docking station could replace this product.
The repo man is a total douche bag.
My bet it is going to be sooner rather than later (if ever). Apple is not part of Macworld anymore, so there is no need to wait unless they plan a big splash at CES or the product just is not ready. I can't imagine they would let this Christmas season pass them by when the netbook class is such a hot category if the product is ready to go. if the rumors of an oversized ipod touch is true, and while that would be cool, it does not sound like it would be as functional as my MSI Wind hackintosh. I will have to take a wait and see on it.
I agree. I guess TMZ is trying to put the guy down, but looks like he gets steady work if not break out roles or projects. At least he is not chasing celebrities around town with a camcorder or selling used cars....
American companies should not bend to the will of the communist chinese. apple should not sell them the iphone, google should not offer censored search and Microsoft should not customize windows for their big brother ways.
I am so sick of hearing about Twitter and anything associated with it that it is really difficult to care about this AR app. I was watching CNN the other day (first mistake) and no lie, during the course of a two minute story the commentator mentioned Twitter and tweets like 5 or 6 times. It is constant like that on these news and talk shows. The faddish obsession with this service is bordering on the absurd.
I did not know Barack read this blog? wow...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
