Samsung execs called for questioning in continuing corruption probe {Engadget}

Mar 1st 2008 6:52PM What people don't understand is that things don't work in the world like they do (or appear to do) in the U.S. Foreign governments, in particular, in Asia...are inherently full of graft. In essence, it's like the U.S. lobbying system but through in a little touch of the godfather and good old fashioned Dewey-style politicking. What you are seeing here, is the biannual thrashing of the supporters of the previous administration that got voted out of office. It's essentially a daily ritual in Korea, Taiwan, Malyasia, etc where corruption is not so much a crime as it is part of the political process. Now before you get too high and might, consider that how many congresmen have been charged with bribes this year... also consider that most of these Asian countries have been democratic for less than thirty or forty years. Exactly how smoothly were things running in the U.S. in 1810 or 1820? How about the Harding administration in the 1920s? I'm just saying....!

Drunk father arrested while driving on Laguna Seca Raceway {Autoblog}

Oct 23rd 2007 9:48PM there is ABSOLUTELY nothing funny about this scumbag - there is honestly a special place in hell reserved for POS' like this. If you saw the possible consequences that can result from situations like this from the perspective of first responders and physicians, you would stop your asinine joking right there.

Mercedes service history goes all digital {Autoblog}

Oct 19th 2007 4:55PM Just to let you know - the reason that this is not done for healthcare information is simple, the U.S. gov't takes patients' privacy VERY seriously. With the exception of the Veterans Administration - all patient data is kept in separately confidential databases, every transfer and access to information has to be approved by the patient. The result is that information can often backlog and there is almost no centralization at all outside of insurance companies. You may want to keep this in mind before you get pissed at your doctor the next time around. Either that or put less importance on your privacy.

Sep 17th 2007 8:56PM It never ceases to amaze me! Don't auto journalists get it? Is it really that bad to actually be critical to the people who provide you cars to test? People don't buy stuff they don't trust. No one trusts VW reliability anymore. That's why they lost billions. Not b/c they stopped offering cute-sy cars (clearly they haven't!) or b/c they didn't offer enough of this or that. Get it?

Saturn Astra pricing hits the net {Autoblog}

Aug 23rd 2007 7:15PM Some of the asinine comments on this post remind all of us that GM just can't win when it comes to trying something new to uplift itself. Apparently, people were expecting a super-Civic for Hyundai Accent prices. For the rest of us who enjoy being realistic - I think this represents an honest-to-goodness effort on the part of GM to try and offer a competitively loaded and priced hatchback without resorting to Aveo-like depths of econo-hell. If you couple that with the fact that all of the mechanicals on this vehicle have already been proven to be sound in Europe for almost 4 years (vs VW which is as reliable as a trophy wife) I think we should all give it a chance and wish the General some luck.

Hyundai does right by Phil Collins: Genesis concept images released {Autoblog}

Mar 26th 2007 4:22AM I love it how everyone is so offended that Hyundai is borrowing from other cars to create this one. Name me one car company that hasn't ripped off another - it's probably among the most incestuous industries out there! The bottom line, this car is WAY better looking than a Toyota/Lexus (except IS) OR a Nissan/Infiniti OR a BMW (except 3-series coupe)!! (I'll draw the line at Mercedes and Jaguars since they've been gorgeous lately). On top of that, they will be thousands less and offer RWD with a great engine (on paper). If Hyundai can pull off a production version that looks 90% like this (and that's a big if) we have a serious winner.
