Aug 26th 2008 8:12PM I'd totally use it to heave crates and chunks of heavy metal debris at my son until he's worn down to a point where I can chop his hand off. And then I'll tell him I'm his dad and I love him.

GC 2008: Finally, a pet game we can get behind {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}
Aug 20th 2008 8:39PM Okay, so a pet monkey simulator is at least somewhat novel. But is there any reason the game has to look like a Nintendo64/DS game?? (Other than the fact that it's probably a direct port of an upcoming DS title.) WTF.

Don't expect PS3 price cut at Leipzig {Joystiq}
Aug 18th 2008 1:32PM At $400, I would not have bitten just because I'm not really interested in any of the games. Fortunately, prices on ebay are lower than MSRP, and, on top of that, Microsoft was doing their cash back promotion via live.com which included ebay purchases at 25% cash back. That pushed the net price down to under $300. For a blu-ray player with games and web functionality, that's a steal.
Wii Fanboy poll: Watch any DVDs on your Wii? {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}
Aug 14th 2008 4:25PM I tried it out last night and it works great. Of course, you give up Dolby Digital/DTS. It'll be even better once they are able to fix the frame rate issue.
It was even able to play some backed up DVDs that won't run on my standalone player or PS3. As for those backed up DVDs, they play smoothly, without any dropped frames, probably due to their lower bit-rate.
Definitely a nice piece of homebrew. Not particularly useful if you're among the 95% of people who already have a DVD player hooked up right next to your Wii, but it's cool to see they were able to add this functionality to the system.
