And as for who it best serves that Psystar be out there.....see my comment at the Guardian for that answer.

Just the same, what Psystar did was perceptionally incorrect. They handled the introduction of their "service" to install Leopard on a PC for you, completely botching it in the process. What they're doing is NO different, than any knowledgeable corner shop PC guy could do for you with any one of the readily available CD's out there for "assisting" in installing Leopard on a PC. Now, is that illegal, Apple I'm sure thinks so. Yet the curiously quiet tone from them is rather telling....from their point of view, every blog mention, every story post, every comment is marketing moolah they DIDN'T have to spend. They get buzz.....for free.
Of COURSE they're going to let this play itself out. They're not paying to be on the front pages of engadget, giz, or any of the others...hell...they didn't have to do anything, and they're getting press....

Like that guy who interviews actors says on the Geico commercial.....brilliant !
Excuse me ? What twisted history did you pull that from ? Wozniak may have shared some of his plans with some of his friends, but there was no such thing as a "documented trials before going public" of anything. Sure, they must've blown a few breadboards, before showing it off to some of his homebrew buddies, but nothing like what people tout today before believing in a product.

And as for Alienware....careful...I can still walk up to Alienware PC Serial # 000003 and boot it to this day ( It's in my sisters and her husband's bedroom ). Built by the founders own hands ( and partially rebuilt by my own, Damn Voodoo2 SLI cards ). I know from whence that came, and you don't know what you're talking about there, my friend.
TheStupidOne: Maybe you should follow up your own follow up....it seems to me with all this digging, Giz has dug themselves in deep....in the dung.

They can't even get the RIGHT address...and..the fact is that even the company in the building where the address is, even says that it's a different BAY and a different COMPANY. Posting pictures of people's houses is a REALLY SWIFT move too, as we all might remember from some bonehead posting someone's address on craigslist not too long ago, where the person at that address getting hurt ( I believe that's what happened, but I could be wrong, they could've just been robbed ).

So yeah, the giz folks really have this story under wraps. right.......because there've never been companies that began in miami, from someone's garage, sold a load of systems, before being bought out by a mega-entity. Oh snap ! That's right, then there's Alienware...natch.

Get real people...just another cloner...move along. Let the open sourcers whine it out. We'll all come out better for it. Funny thing in all of this is the Russian developer complaining someone taking his intellectual property for commercial use ( when he himself apparently is being accussed of not granting attribution to other contributors to "his" work). Dude..no one installs software for free. Hello !? It's called popping in a boot disk, and then popping in the original Leopard disk....DUH ! Can you kalyway...hello ?!?
Someone should read those the comments on Netka$'s blog post, apparently Psystar may not be the only one on "questionable" ethical grounds, quite frankly. I'd think that if someone contributed to something I did, and didn't give them credit, and then complained when some "uplifted" that something, I wouldn't have much of a leg to stand on "morally" anyway.

Not to mention that Psystar has apparently ( within a day....that was quick thinking ) posted a link acknowledging Psystar uses open source software, and mentions Mr. NetKa$ by name.

Also, to those nambi pambi people who question where Psystar is located/started, I remind them that companies like ALIENWARE, were started in a double garage ( I know the then-founder, he was head of tech support for a company I used to work for ). And Apple themselves...where do YOU think they built the first one ? People like to piss and moan about small companies with big aspirations, but the reality is more big companies started that way, than didn't.

Disclaimer: I do NOT have ANY affiliation with Psystar. So before you start a'hatin', put a sock in it.
When I can't haul around my 5 year old Inspiron 8500, and I still need to access email and documents at work, from a convinient form factor. Also good for taking notes in class.
acidscan: Your spanish grammar is ridiculous

¿Me escuchas ahora?= Are you listenining to me now ?

¿Me puedes oir? = Can you hear me (now) ?

"Oir" holds double use as the verb both in passive and perfect tenses. Adding "ahora" would be UNDERSTOOD to be the case, and would be grammatically incorrect if it were included.

The use of "eschucas" is incorrect because it assumes that the other person is in the act of listening, which is obviously different than hearing.
acidscan: Most Cuban's do NOT make $20/month and MIGHT barely make $10/month. Perhaps party members or close relations with government posts. But to put into perspective...a Cuban Postal worker makes PRECISELY $6 USD per month. Don't believe me, I'll call a cousin of mine who is one ( oh that's right, he can't afford a cellphone...'natch ), and have him tell you in his perfect English what his salary is. And he's been with their postal service for 15 years. Now perhaps Doctors, or people who deal with tourists and hide tips ( and having visited family there, I can assert safely that service workers WILL do that, rather than pool tips with other workers ) might be able to purchase one.

The point everyone is missing....people piss and moan about the Patriot act here, and they fail to realize that that is PRECISELY how people on that island have been living for the last 49 years. Now, besides being watch by the "neighborhood watch" ( nee, party "block captain" ), their cellphone communications will now be listened into as desired, whenever desired, just like any regular phone calls to the island.

Matt: Here's how the F--k they can have US technology over there, if our companies can't directly import them. Shell companies in places like Mexico ( or just about any place ) purchase products at wholesale for sale "within" their countries, and instead, sell them to other shell companies owned by the Cuban government who simply pack them up and ship them there.

3G - It's about time !

4Gb flash - Uh, at least one comes with 16Gb now, and there's these things...they're called uSD's....everyone can have 4Gb.

VGA - Yawn ( how big is the screen again ? )

GPS - Ok, I'll give you that one.

TouchScreen - I didn't see that in the article ? Where did YOU read that ?

WiFi - As if it'd be allowed to NOT come with it.

What we're looking at here people is essentially an updated Dual Touch Cruise. Hint: Some people want built-in keyboards for faster input. Touch screen is ok for navigation, but after using stylus input for over 12 years on everything from a Palm Pilot ( yes you heard right ) to an MDA III ( G_d I hated having to import that over ), I think I'm due for something that has a reasonable keyboard.

TMobile should've released something like the HTC TyTn or TyTn II here in the U.S.. Longtime customers are fed up with TMO offering the Least Common Denominator smartphones ( SDA ) and runt of the litter ( TMO Wing ) PDA phones. It's time they realized that has the talk plans become ubiquitous, that their bread and butter will come from data plans and the handsets that support their data services.
Anyone can buy a handset that will give them unlimited talk time now for around $100/mo.

So yeah, after 9 years as a TMO ( can you say Omnipoint ) customer, I think it's high time they brought a "decent" PDA Phone to the U.S.
Yet another cheesy phone from TMo.....a year too late, a couple hundred MHz shy. It'll probably be powered by another ANEMIC processor.

In short, it looks like a Shadow. with a bigger screen. PUH-LEEZE....this is what they're hoping to gain market share with in 3G here in the US ? With the iPhone 3G now rumored for May ?

Wake up TMO..I've been with you for 9 years ( someone say Omnipoint in the house ), but if this is your idea of 3G....sign me up SteveJo....it figures that after 4+ months of silence since the Shadow being delivered, would come to something this cheesy being displayed, much less, announced.

What bullhockey ! Download through iTunes ? Lauding Nokia on their S60 anti-individual software development stance ? For all his smarts, Steve Jobs can sometimes really be dolt ! ( or at minimum allow himself to be swayed dolts within Apple ).

Nothing good can come of this folks.....

Unlock the iPhone, un-shackle it from iTunes to download software, and THEN watch how many of'm you can sell Apple....and sell QUALITY software for them. The "fringe" kookie software will always be around. It's, of course, the fear of "viruses" invading their sweet product that they're afraid of allowing because of their "corporate customer" aspirations.

Get real....if some silly script kiddy tried to mess with the the uber-iCON that the iPhone is by releasing a virus for it ( not bloodly likely ), they'd have a veritable legion of software developers descend upon them like harpies. ( Cue Wagner - Flight of the Valkyries ).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
